• A silent flirt coming from studio shelves 💜

Summer sun awakens the colours, textures, and shine of my ceramics, and I can’t help but keep taking photos of the display shelf over and over again.
Afternoons in this room fill me with immense love for what I create, because they remind me that these objects can bring joy and peace simply by existing alongside us.

• It’s really challenging to pick the most unique or characteristic side of our super-duper unique Serenity Cups that change with every turn and have many many faces — but it’s a fun game for me!

Today’s inspiration comes from music hits and playfully twisted song titles, ranging from the Beatles, through Beethoven, all the way to Simply Red and Daft Punk of the 90s.

• Some things we create exist to simply lead us somewhere else - necessary stops in the exploration of a larger theme or story we want to tell. They were never meant to become part of a series, a final collection, or a permanent offering. These one-offs have been gathering around my studio for some time now, part of an ongoing exploration that may eventually lead to a new vase project. I suspect that when it arrives, it will carry traces of many of its predecessors.

This is an evolution of my stone-inspired vase. After living with its satin matte finish for a while, I felt it needed a more lively surface. I warmed it up, layered new glazes over the original finish, and re-fired it. Most of the colours that emerged surprised me, and I could never have achieved these effects through a standard process. It gave me an important insight, and now it sits on my top shelf, waiting for me to decide what comes next.
