One Kitchen = Three Kitchens?

The kitchen is made of three discrete parts - the Cooking Kitchen that shares a space with the dining room and a view out to the rear garden, a Prep Kitchen which acts as a pantry, and a “Coffee Kitchen” which is a cozy smaller space for hanging out in small groups and drinking coffee. In many ways the kitchen(s) are the heart of the home.

The custom-designed house is the result of an
interdisciplinary collaboration between two female-led
design firms whose respective areas of expertise are
perfectly complementary. All the interiors for the house
are designed by Ester Bruzkus with her Berlin-based
firm Bruzkus Greenberg, while the architectural volume
and the exteriors were designed by and her team at Philipp Architekten, with three offices in
Germany and Switzerland.

Details of the stone sink in the children’s room. Natural light flows in from a skylight above to enhance the translucency of the natural stone.

“The translucent color of the onyx blends with the light from the skylight to become the perfect little room.”

STUTTGART DUET

The interior revolves around a sculptural
white steel stair that spirals up and connects all four levels.

The clean and planar steel is complemented by the warm wood steps and floors.

“The curvaceous staircase is like a piece of sculpture in the middle of the house.”

Exhibition Design by BRUZKUS GREENBERG

The design of the exhibition to mark twenty five years of the Alexander Tutsek Foundation brings together a diverse group of works in glass in two galleries on two different floors. On the ground floor of the BlackBox, works are grouped that are limited in coloration – and matte-colored display cases have been built into the walls to maintain a unified sense of the whole gallery space. The floor is left open for the display of more works. Upstairs, BlackBox FirstFloor, it is different: the works themselves have much more color – and, in contrast with the downstairs room, a shiny colorful table occupies the middle of the room. On both floors, the gallery space ends with mirrored surfaces that double the visitor’s perception of the rooms.

We want the visitor to gaze into the horizon and to consider these works in the flow of time, not just a look back.
