Unveiling the completed Madina Villa in Sharjah (UAE), which we designed as a contemporary vertical interpretation of the local historic city. Sunlight pours through the winding narrow alleys, creating visual comfort through diffused illumination.

The building form results from the intention to provide the best view of the playing field while minimizing the internal volume of space. The curvature of the roof follows the geometry of the rising spectator stands, which is a new, introducing a new, dynamic design to the Union Quarter. With the exception of the retractable bleachers located on the transverse sides, the spectator seating was arranged on the long sides of the quad gymnasium. The majority of the spectator seats are located in the center of the grandstand with a very good view of the action. This results in the arc-shaped rise of the spectator seats, which allows rising viewing axes 9 cm above the spectators sitting in front of them. The very slender cable net construction of the roof eliminates the need for heavy girder structures and a high roof space due to wide-spanning girders.
