“We need to think about the kind of trust, comfort, and safety that we can provide as leaders and facilitators of these curiosity moments,” —Jane Fulton Suri
Curiosity enables us to change our perspective and to relate and empathize with people around us.
The more psychologically safe we feel, the more we trust, the more we allow ourselves to play.
To encourage curiosity at work, think about incorporating moments of fun into meetings, changing up your environment to escape routine, and modeling your own vulnerability. It takes time to develop a culture of trust, but small actions can add up to a big impact over time.'

Knowledge of the day: Empathy can be tracked. When two people engage in empathic dialogue, magic will happen. The neurons of the listener, firing in the brain to make deep listening happen, will align and eventually mirror the neuron's movement of the person speaking. This is when we experience flow, alignment and being understood in a conversation.
Empathy is a dance of mirroring neurons

Jacinda Ardern is stepping into empathy with three simple steps.
1. She is saying: I see you! with her words
2. she is communicating: You matter! by new laws and
3. she is showing: I feel you and am one of you in my heart by covering her head in sympathy and respect.
"That leadership could be about compassion and that overused word “empathy” feels freeing to us now. It wasn’t always this way. Dwight Eisenhower once said: “The supreme quality of leadership is unquestionably integrity.” Ardern embodies this; meaning what she says, saying what she means, unafraid and unbowed."

Empathy and Purpose
In order for companies to succeed in becoming more empathic in their practices, internally and externally, individuals must share the purpose, vision & values of the company - as well as feel empowered to bring their individual purpose to work. When there is alignment in the goals to be obtained and individuals feel they have a part in obtaining these goals and can show up as three dimensional humans, with an elaborate emotional landscape, a sense of purpose is created which leads to more empathic connections and a collaborative environment.

Ok ok ok gimme numbers:
91% percent of CEOs believe empathy is directly linked to a company's financial performance, while 93% of employees say they're more likely to stay with an empathetic employer. But, an increasing number of employees don't think their employer is empathetic, leaving the door open for lost talent at organizations that can't close the "empathy gap." In fact, 92% of CEOs say their organization is empathetic, but only 72% of employees agree (a 6-point decrease from previous years).
So Organizations, Companies and Ventures have inherently one important thing in common - the togetherness. Together we spell out visions, build and create. Together we are innovative.
But how does this together actually work well? So many different voices, perspectives and emotional landscapes.
The secret for amazing togetherness is empathy. Empathy drives connection.

Today // Bringing you knowledge part 1 // Organizational Empathy:
Organizational Empathy is the ability of an
organization to imagine, create space for and
react to the emotional experience of any employee.
Context: Often times, the larger the organization, the more bureaucratic and the less personal -human to human- interaction happens. And the more we are confronted with a "But we have always done it this way" attitude. We regress back to rigid rules for the sake of structure and deprive each other of the human experience - of empathy. Organizational Empathy wants to allow the individual in their complexity within large structures and calls for human centered action, decision making, communication, for inclusivity and an intersectional lens.

Susanne Scheerer and Jan Bathel met in Berlin in 2017 and soon found themselves in an exciting dialogue. Two questions seemed inexhaustible to them both:
How do systems change? Can one plan and successfully manage cultural transformation?
Many years of work in cultural change processes, new forms of work and leadership development with organizations such as the Otto Group, GIZ, EWE AG or Daimler AG have shown that cultural transformation is putting tomorrow's executives to the test in the midst of digitization, emerging markets and deep tech approaches.
After intensive research on social systems, joint work as systemic strategy consultants, leadership developers, concept thinkers, social entrepreneurs and culture creators, they now combine their experiences in their shared vision and mission of the ‘Empathic Organization’.
Both visionaries share one core insight: the secret ingredient of a successful cultural transformation is empathy.
Truly profound and sustainable cultural change only occurs when the emotional landscapes, behavior, mindsets and communication of individuals change.
Accompanying the biggest cultural change process of the Daimler AG 'Changer The Game' has proven to both: Empathy as a secret ingredient for successful social transformation is trainable.
Both are happy to share your experiences with you. Their 'Empathic Organization' program offers a comprehensive range of executive and professional careers that have healthy, self-effective and happy employees in mind when they think about their work.
