Today, we proudly celebrate an incredible milestone: August marking 45 years with Van Merksteijn Fences.

45 years ago, August was personally hired by Mrs. Merksteijn. Since then, he has become a true pillar within our organization. Known for always getting the maximum out of every machine, his craftsmanship, technical knowledge and commitment have set the standard for generations of operators.

Over the years, August has witnessed and experienced every phase of our company’s growth and development. Today, we can confidently say he is one of the best operators within our organization.

What makes this milestone even more special is that, after 45 years, August still works with the same passion, pride and dedication as he did on day one. We are incredibly proud and grateful to have him as part of the Van Merksteijn family.

At Van Merksteijn Fences, every wire is treated to perform in the toughest conditions.
Our steel wire is drawn through a bath of molten zinc, creating a highly durable, fully bonded zinc layer in line with BS EN ISO 1461. This ensures a consistent, corrosion-resistant finish designed for long-term performance.

After galvanizing, the wire is cooled and rinsed with water. This step stabilises the coating, removes excess residue and ensures a clean, uniform surface for further processing.

We are pleased to welcome our new Chief Operations Officer (COO), Jeroen Wilbers

Jeroen brings extensive experience in leading complex, international manufacturing operations. With a strong technical foundation and a proven track record in senior leadership roles, he has played a key role in developing and optimising production environments, driving operational excellence and supporting long-term growth.

What attracted him to Van Merksteijn Fences is the balance between entrepreneurial spirit and industrial excellence. As a family-owned organisation with deep technical expertise, operating at scale and with a clear ambition to continuously strengthen its operations, it strongly resonates with his drive to build robust, future-proof organisations.

Since joining, Jeroen has been energised by the people within the organisation. The strong sense of ownership, loyalty and the down-to-earth mentality stand out to him, as well as the shared ambition to support the next phase of growth.

After many years of dedication, we say goodbye to our colleague Henry Spalink, who is now heading into a well-deserved retirement.

Since joining Van Merksteijn in 2006 as an operator, Henry grew into a familiar and valued face within our team.

But above all, Henry will be remembered for the atmosphere he brought to the workplace. Down-to-earth, straightforward and always in for a bit of humor. A colleague you could rely on. In this video, we capture his final moments with us at our HQ in the Netherlands.

This role is based in Almelo, the Netherlands.

Ben jij een ervaren leidinggevende met commercieel inzicht én een scherp oog voor processen en kostprijzen?

Voor Van Merksteijn Fences in Almelo zoeken wij een Hoofd Sales Binnendienst (36–40 uur).

In deze rol stuur je het binnendienstteam aan en ben je verantwoordelijk voor offertes, kostprijscalculaties en het bewaken van budgetten, omzet en marges.
Je fungeert als schakel tussen sales, logistiek en de commercieel directeur en zorgt dat processen rondom orders en leveringen optimaal verlopen.

Daarnaast werk je actief aan procesverbetering, datakwaliteit (Dynamics 365) en managementrapportages. Je vertaalt strategie naar concrete acties en zorgt voor duidelijke terugkoppeling vanuit de markt.

Wij zoeken iemand met:
🎓 HBO werk- en denkniveau
📈 3–5 jaar ervaring in sales binnendienst of sales operations
🤝 Aantoonbare leidinggevende ervaring
🚀 Een proactieve, resultaatgerichte en verbindende stijl
