Die Philosophie vom Büro Rainer Schmidt ist es, die Landschaftsarchitektur des 21.

Jahrhunderts zur Anregung zu machen für Reflektionen über die Haltung der Menschen zueinander und zu der Natur. Rainer Schmidt hat 1991 seine internationalen Büros für Landschaftsarchitektur gegründet. Seitdem haben er und sein Team erfolgreich eine internationale Reputation in diesen beiden Feldern erarbeitet. Das Ansehen geht zurück auf die sehr starken Konzepte von Rainer Schmidt, die weltweit

ein hochwertiges Profil der Gestaltung und Umsetzung von Freiraum geschaffen haben. Die Konzepte tragen neue Angebote für Identifizierung, sie gehen aus von Landmarken-gleichen Räumen, die dann Antworten finden durch Klienten und Nutzer und so den jeweiligen Mehrwert in Zeit und Raum herstellen. Das Unternehmen hat drei Standorte in Deutschland: den Hauptsitz in München, die beiden anderen in Berlin und Bernburg. Rainer Schmidts langfristige berufliche und akademische Karriere und seine Handhabung von komplexen Design Aufgaben haben es ermöglicht, eine breite Erfahrungsbasis für die Büros zu gewinnen: Von großräumlichen Masterplan für eine Stadt bis hin zu innovativen Park und Garten Design.

First Prize: Hafner All-Day School, Constance

We are delighted to announce that we won the competition designing a new six-form integrated school in Constance’s Hafner district!

From a landscape architecture perspective, the design impresses with its clearly structured open space layout, which connects the school, the district, and the landscape. A spacious schoolyard serves as the centerpiece that defines the school’s identity, located between the “green belt” and the “sports axis.” The neighborhood square and access paths seamlessly integrate with the surrounding area. The topography is thus utilized as a recreational space for learning, play, and exercise with differentiated areas.

Kick-off for the Brienner Gärten! Munich's “House of Football” is open!

We are happy to announce that a wonderful project has been completed and can now be used. The “Brienner Gärten” are a green retreat in the heart of Maxvorstadt - open, lively and sustainably designed. In keeping with its name, a building with residential and commercial space has been created with green courtyard gardens that give the site a special character. We are delighted to have been part of this project and would like to thank everyone involved.

We are delighted to have won the 4th prize in the competition for the new building of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). Together with Ortner & Ortner Baukunst we developed a design, that creates an architecturally coherent yet diverse ensemble of buildings that combines sustainability, urban openness and security requirements. The outdoor facilities create an open and freely accessible campus center, which is characterized by spacious inner courtyards, transparent connections between the buildings and targeted visual openings to the surrounding urban space. In addition, the green façades support the sustainable and integrative overall concept, while multi-storey recesses in the buildings allow for an improved supply of daylight to the inner courtyards and interior spaces.

The project house of the future creates more than just architecture - it forms a lively campus square with generous green spaces, shady places to spend time and barrier-free paths.
🌳 Old trees are preserved, new climate-resistant species promote biodiversity and microclimate.

Together with the architects from Stefan Forster Architektur, we are delighted to have won the 3rd prize in the competition for the inclusive district of Rappertshofen in Reutlingen.
Our concept focuses on the integration and preservation of high-quality green spaces and the careful structuring of the outdoor facilities. Existing structures, buildings and biotopes will continue to be used and conserve its grey energy. The “Green Center”, the central open space zone connects the residential area with the neighborhood square and offers a variety of recreational and leisure opportunities creating a variety of meeting places and quiet zones for people and animals. Short distances and barrier-free access ensure good accessibility. Other landscape architecture highlights include the “Mensch+Tier” project at the nursing home, which promotes a connection to animals through proximity and interaction, and the seasonal garden near the canteen.
The outdoor areas reflect the urban-village character by creating a high quality of life through small-scale structures, quiet courtyards and diverse uses, while at the same time promoting nature-oriented design.

We are happy that, after winning the first prize in the competition for the “Urban village in Lörick-Düsseldorf”, we have now also been awarded the contract for the project. The aim is to create a sustainable and forward-looking development with a liveable neighborhood and a communicative working structure. We are delighted to be able to develop this exciting project together with schneider+schumacher.
