International Masters for Waldorf Teachers, Freie Hochschule Stuttgart

International Masters for Waldorf Teachers, Freie Hochschule Stuttgart International English Masters Programme at the Freie Hochschule Stuttgart (Waldorf Teachers College) There are possibilities of scholarships depending on need.

fully accredited Master of Arts Programme for Steiner School class and subject teachers will be offered in English for the first time at the Freie Hochschule in Stuttgart, Germany. The Freie Hochschule Stuttgart/Seminar für Waldorfpädagogik in Stuttgart, Germany is the oldest and largest Steiner teacher-training institute in the world and has been successfully training Waldorf teachers since 1928.

In a full-time course of studies, core elements of Anthroposophy, pedagogical anthropology, child and adolescent psychology and subject methodology are combined with an intensive artistic training in music, speech, Eurythmy, painting, drawing and sculpting. In conjunction with practical experience gained in a series of long-term internships (a number of which will take place in the U.K.), this training thus offers extensive possibilities for a teacher's personal and professional development. The course is a graduate course and is concluded with a Master's Thesis. If prerequisites are met, the course can be completed in 18 months. In exceptional cases - which include extensive previous Waldorf training and sufficient teaching experience - it may be possible to complete the course in one year. We are planning to begin the next course in Sept, 2022 and it will conclude in Dec, 2023. Admission Requirements:
A Bachelor's Degree or the equivalent in a field related to a school subject. Costs:
The course fee for the entire programme is 16,000 Euros. For further inquiries please contact

Anthroposophic clay sculpting goes beyond mere artistic skill-building; it is considered a form of soul work. By shaping the clay, individuals engage in a dialogue with their inner selves and with the elemental forces inherent in the material. This process is believed to facilitate personal growth, self-awareness, and spiritual development.

Moreover, in Waldorf/Steiner education, clay sculpting is integrated into the curriculum as a holistic learning experience. It nurtures not only artistic abilities but also fine motor skills, sensory awareness, and emotional intelligence. Through clay sculpting, students learn to observe and respect the natural world while honing their creative expression and nurturing their connection to the spiritual dimensions of life.

As this year comes to an end and the sixth International Masters in Waldorf education here in Stuttgart comes to a conclusion, it’s with sadness that we bid farewell to this incredible bunch of individuals and with immense hope in that we look forward to seeing everything that they will bring to the world.

With the warmth and guidance of course leader Iris, this group has built a worldwide community within the locality, bringing the warmth of diverse cultures and nationalities (and also delicious food) to the area.

While we excitedly await the arrival of many new students for the seventh international masters in Waldorf Education, let’s take a look back at this amazing year and a half…

Isabel Lenschow, handicraft teacher extraordinaire at the Freiehochschule Stuttgart, awakened a deep love and appreciation for handwork in all the International Masters students.
The three weeks in the handwork room were spent wet-felting, finger knitting, sewing bean-bags, making wooden knitting needles and (for some) knitting for the first time.
It was a very enriching experience for all.

Embracing the essence of Waldorf/Steiner education – where handwork becomes a powerful tool for holistic learning. Through crafting and creating, students develop not only practical skills but also cultivate patience, focus, and a profound connection with their work. Handwork isn't just about creating tangible objects; it's a pathway to nurturing creativity, resilience, and a deep appreciation for the art of making. 🌿🎨
