BumZen Community Kitchen From September 29th and foward - BumZen, on Baldersgade 20-22, 2200 Kbh Nørrebro, will be starting up weekly community kitchens once again.

Strengthen the community - Come eat together! BumZen, on Baldersgade 20-22, 2200 Kbh Nørrebro, have started up weekly community kitchens once again. In a time when our neighborhood is under heavy siege by police, the media is pushing for an "us & them" narrative, right wing groups frequently occuppy our streets and sqaures while more and more basic local funcionality is being replaced by bars, re

staurants and cafés slowly turning Nørrebro into a themepark to entertain tourists and rich people, making the neighbourhood less and less accessible for those of us who actually live here - we feel it necessesary to react and do what we can to help empower the nieghbourhood, work together and create unity and strenght between neighbours. We can do our part in this process by offering a friendly environment where we eat and cook together every week in a setting where everyone can participate. The food is vegan, so everyone can eat it. The price is donation so everyone can afford it. We invite you to participate, if you want to take part in the cooking and planning of this weekly event. We want to live in a neighbourhood where we help and take care of each other - and this is one of many possible ways to make that happen. We are not trying to fool anyone, we have started this project up again because of our position as revolutionary socialists and because we believe in:

Strong communities as an alternative to police

Mutual aid and solidarity as an alternative to charity

Local power as an alternative to state power

Basic access to our neighbourhood and community, no matter your income or identity

Hee friends!

BumZen Community Kitchen is writing you to ask for help! The community kitchen had been running low for a while before Covid-19 hit us, during the quarantine we did some thinking and we figured out that we really need some more hands if we want to keep this going. The community kitchen provides a meeting space for new friends and comrades and has overtime supported many groups and organizations. Let’s give it our best shot to keep that going!

We would like to get some groups of people involved that can create their own teams of 3-6 people (or more depending on how many hands you think you need to cook and open a bar for 50 people) and we would like to elaborate our network of individual volunteers that can help out and take up shifts when needed. The idea is that such a group/team would take one Wednesday a month or every two months orso and fully run the kitchen and bar. Ideally some groups would take a set week of each month, eg. one time always takes the first Wednesday of the month, another time always takes the last Wednesday of the month, etc. The idea for individual volunteers is just to help out when it is needed and pick up a bar shift here and there or jump in with the cooking when they need help. This would outsource some of the work, take the pressure of current activist and engage more groups into the community kitchen, hopefully also resulting in a wider reach 😊

*HOLIDAY BREAK*

Heeey everyone! Thank you so much for yesterday - and the last couple of months. good to see the kitchen thriving and so many people getting fed and comming together Wedensday after Wednesday.

The following weeks, like the rest of the country, we will be on holidays, recharging our batteries and spending time with loved ones.

We will see you again on January 8th, where we will be open again on a weekly basis.

Until then, stay warm, stay cute and take care of each other
