The Radio House mirror

Designed originally, by Vilhelm Lauritzen, for the Royal Retiring Room in the Radio House which served as the royal chambers. Today the 175 cm high full length mirror is available for everyone and not just for the royal family.

The distinctive frame is assembled with the utmost precision to ensure that the grain is continuous. The surface is then gently sanded by hand to achieve a complete finish.

The mirror has a clear Vilhelm Lauritzen and Radio House identity, with the organic solid oak beautifully framing the mirror image giving it a Nordic contemporary look.

Thank you for the collaboration Carl Hansen & Søn

The Timber House

Designed to show how a simple typology such as a parking lot, can become an artistic element in the city.

The façade draws inspiration from the local history of the area and a stack of timber beams, where each individual beam never is perfectly aligned. This effect is achieved by layering aluminum and wood pixels, creating a textured relief.

The result is a dynamic three-dimensional surface that captures both natural daylight and artificial light from within, enhancing the building’s presence throughout the day and night.

The Nordic Embassy - A dynamic interplay of light and shadow.

The Nordic embassy in Mozambique appears as a streamlined monolith. Divided into two sections, connected by a central building and courtyard with local trees and plants.

Above an elegant steel-slat pergola at roof height creates natural ventilation, cooling the outdoor space.

The white-painted concrete walls, along with the carefully considered volumes and windows, respond to the local climate.

The details around the windows and doors along with the built-in recesses and notches are a natural extension of the building’s simple form, providing both privacy and protection from the sun together with a dynamic play of light and shadow.

The People’s House – A Landmark in Vesterbro

For seven decades, The People’s House has been a gathering place for Copenhageners, politicians, music enthusiasts and party goers.

Today it is recognized as a distinctive landmarks in Copenhagen’s Vesterbro neighbourhood with it’s striking three-story façade adorned with a relief by artist Dan Sterup-Hansen.

An exemplary piece of functionalist architecture, where design blends form and function.

The colonnade protects visitors from the rain while enhancing the rhythm of the façade, and every detail, from material choice to the relief’s placement, is carefully considered.

KB32 – Bringing new life to the (in)famous Copenhagen Brutalism

Characterized by a multifunctional interior design, daylight and tactile materials such as wood and raw concrete, KB32 has been respectfully transformed into a six story open office landscape.

The transformation has sought to strip the structure back to its raw essence, removing unnecessary layers and reintroducing a façade that reflects its initial qualities.

Subsequently, only elements that provide spatial and material value have been added.

This applies, among other things, to the new simplified and understated façade. Whereas the raw concrete girders have been preserved and help add an industrial feel to the space.

VL Studio Lamp

The VL Studio Lamp was originally designed for Danish Broadcasting’s (DR) Radio House in the 1940s. The lamp earned its name from its original purpose, which was to indicate when recordings were taking place in one of the studios in The Radio House.

The lamp is crafted from lightly brushed polished brass and features glossy, white, mouth-blown glass that imparts a sleek and minimalist expression.

Based on the original design and its materials, Vilhelm Lauritzen’s Studio Lamp was introduced in 2022 in collaboration with Louis Poulsen as both a table lamp and a wall lamp.

Life - An interplay between Nature and Science

Located on old hunting grounds, LIFE Campus manifests an interplay between nature and science with a digital learning environment and modern workspaces.

Ninety-six oak columns mark the transition between a playful landscape and a living building inspired by the natural surroundings and science – each placed in a pattern that reference the mathematical patterns and DNA-strings.

Outside, an experience path connects the building to the landscape and guides visitors to science-inspired art pieces by world-renowned artist Jeppe Hein.

The southern end is home to learning gardens LIFE Arboretum and LIFE Orchard with a vast variety of trees.

Kastrup station - A natural transistion from train to flight.

Kastrup Station is designed as a seamless transition between train and plane travel at Copenhagen Airport. The station’s architecture balances functionality, flow, and atmosphere, welcoming travelers with a light-filled and tranquil environment that reflects the airport’s aesthetic simplicity.

An elongated opening above the tracks invites daylight in and ensures natural ventilation. The opening is covered by a seven-meter-wide slanted glass roof, providing protection from rain.

The platforms are made of solid granite, while the plastered ceiling surfaces and travertine-clad walls create a warm and inviting atmosphere. The station’s curve toward the Øresund Tunnel highlights a natural sense of motion and lends the space an intimate quality, enhancing an effortless travel experience.

We are thrilled to announce that we have won 5 Archello awards and been named Archello’s “Big Firm of the Year”

The Tip of Nordø received three awards, including Office Building of the Year and High-Rise Tower of the Year (jury and public vote), standing as a contemporary landmark at Copenhagen Harbour.

Kronløb Island won Public Space of the Year, recognized for its vibrant atmosphere and connection to the water in Nordhavn.

The Timber House was named Parking Garage of the Year (public vote) for its pixel-inspired design that honors it’s local history.

Finally we are grateful for our recognition of “Big firm of the year”. Rooted in Vilhelm Lauritzen’s modernist legacy, we’ve spent over 100 years creating funtional and timeless architecture. To have earned the public’s vote makes this recognition all the more meaningful
