NORRØN

NORRØN NORRØN specializes in destination development with a focus on creating authentic architecture. Cruise. Pr. 1.

Our collaboration with Pettersen & Hein brought an artistic layer to Hotel Hans - spanning from bespoke tables and furniture pieces to sculptural interventions throughout the hotel. From the restaurant to the corridors, their work adds a tactile and timeless presence, culminating in the courtyard sculpture ‘Hans’, at the heart of the space.

A closer look at the outdoor shelter project by NORRØN for the VKR Group Employee Foundation.
Designed to reconnect people with nature, these publicly accessible modular shelters offer simple spaces for rest, reflection, and time outdoors - inviting more people to experience the healing power of being outside.
Built with solid wood construction and high-quality, durable materials, the hybrid system allows for fast assembly without compromising longevity - making it possible to place these shelters in thousands of locations across Europe, often near VKR Group production sites. Photos

We love when everything comes together in the details.

At Hotel Hans, every element has been carefully considered - from the nuanced colour palette to custom-designed lighting and bespoke furniture. Our in-house team worked across scales to create a cohesive atmosphere where materials, tones, and craftsmanship speak the same language.

It’s this level of detailing and integration that defines our approach - shaping spaces that feel both refined and deeply connected to their context.
Thanks for the great collaboration and and for sharing these beautiful images.

National parks need a strong narrative.
Nationalpark Skjoldungernes Land does not own the landscape – it creates connections within it.
Since its establishment, NORRØN has advised on identity, storytelling, and strategic development – from trail concepts and landscape markers to communicating nature and cultural history. A key move has been to position Roskilde as the park’s historic center and a link between town and fjord.
In Denmark, land is divided among many owners. A national park truly emerges when a shared narrative brings people, places, and experiences together.
When many actors see themselves in the same story, the park becomes more than a place – it becomes a shared destination and collective project.

Sunlight moves gently through Åstrup Have, animating the materials and drawing you through the sheltered passages. The project reinterprets the traditional Danish farmhouse in a contemporary architectural language, balancing familiarity with a refined, modern expression.
Set within the open countryside of Southern Denmark, the buildings form a calm architectural ensemble where light, materiality and proportion reflect the quiet character of rural Denmark. The project also demonstrates a high level of expertise in detailing and ex*****on, where every junction and surface is thoughtfully resolved — from initial concept to the final, cohesive and impressive built result. A rural house reimagined - Near Præstø in South Zealand, an abandoned countryside house has been transformed into a recreational home as part of Det Danske Landsted. The project received a special award from the Danish Renovation Prize a few years ago.
The concept is simple: keep the heavy brick walls of the old house and strip the interior completely. On top of this historic brick structure, a new lightweight wooden volume is placed — here painted umbra green, inspired by local agricultural buildings. The result is a house that combines history, sustainability and contemporary architecture. Reusing the existing brick walls alone saves around255 kg CO₂ per ton of brick.
In a time when architecture often becomes smooth, white and generic, projects like this remind us of something else:
life does not have to unfold in cellophane architecture, but can thrive in tactile spaces shaped by history and place. Photos

One of the most beautiful existing elements in Hotel Hans was the historic staircase. Rather than redesigning it, our approach was to carefully restore and highlight its original character.
The ornate railings and wall details were kept and unified in a soft monochrome grey, allowing the craftsmanship of the early 1900s to come forward again. A custom dark green carpet designed with Ege Carpets introduces warmth and connects the staircase to the hotel’s overall palette.
Running through the center of the stairwell, a bespoke lamp continues vertically as a five-storey chandelier—acting as a contemporary spine that gently ties the historic architecture to the new interior design. Photos and ✨

We created this covered outdoor classroom where wooden slats allow light and views to flow between the interior and the surrounding Gribskov forest. The structure rests gently on large stones placed within the landscape.
Inspired by the softly hilly terrain, the project grows naturally from the ground, forming a foundation for a wide range of nature-based activities.
The learning space itself offers a series of innovative facilities that support new and inspiring ways of learning in nature.

The modular shelters are created to reconnect people with nature—publicly accessible. Simple spaces for rest, reflection, and time outdoors, inviting more people to experience the healing power of the outdoors. The hybrid construction allows the shelters to be built quickly while remaining durable—making it possible to place them in thousands of locations across Europe, often near VKR Group production sites.
