SOMMARIVA VILLAGE
Helsingør, Denmark
SOMMARIVABYEN will be a completely new district with more than 200 mixed housing units of high architectural quality focusing on Communities, Cultural Heritage, Sustainability and Biodiversity. As a central element in the reduction of the project's embedded CO2-footprint, we have minimized the proportion of bricks, maximized the use of recycled materials and most effectively, we will be using wooden load-bearing structures.
SOMMARIVA VILLAGE is characterized by a complexity in scale, audience, social ambitions and variations of nature. We found that such complexity needed a cohesive shaping strategy to offer individual detailing and scaling options within set frames. Having the ability to appear both refined and raw, the light wooden facade gave us various design options to visually manifest identity and difference within the village.
We have been studying concepts of layering techniques, cladding methods to adapt the weather condition, perforations and scales of various wooden panels to emphasize certain functions, common areas and privacy.
An attractive village with a clear identity is created, which resonates the area's rich and multifaceted history as a place for living, socially interacting, gardens, parks, pleasure and common leisure.
We are very pleased to have collaborated with Aaen Engineering and Transition
