The final event of the EIS Top Innovators program took place last week at one of Estonia’s highest points, the Tallinn TV Tower. As the organizer said, “It wasn’t just the lift that rose – so did the future of Estonian innovation.”

Throughout the program, we had the chance to test🧪, learn, and grow innovation in our team and organization. It pushed us to think bigger🧠, act faster, and fine-tune our solution a sustainable growing substrate🪵 made from local wood industry byproducts.

𝗠𝗶𝗸𝘀𝗸𝗮𝗮𝗿’𝘀 𝗠𝗶𝗸𝘀𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘄 𝘀𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗲𝗻𝘃𝗶𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗳𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗹𝘆 – 𝗶𝘁 𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗺𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗵𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲. With Mikspilot, our user-friendly digital platform that measures growing media moisture, EC, and temperature in real-time, farmers can make better decisions about watering, and fertilizing yields effectively and supported manner. But this is not all - we already have goals to improve the platform with future developments.

𝗔 𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗸 𝗮𝗴𝗼, 𝘄𝗲 𝗰𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗿𝗶𝗯𝗯𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗳𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆.✂️

Last Thursday we opened our new factory where we'll be producing fully peat-free growing media. The main ingredient is timber byproducts 🪵 from Estonian sawmills.

We started with the Miksgrow brand 2 years ago with a simple goal: to create growing mixes that meet professional grower's standards and are better for the planet🌎

We’re not replacing peat just for the sake of it but we’re working to create something we genuinely believe is better and more sustainable.

The development work is backed by international research. Wageningen University predicts global demand for growing media to rise over 250% by 2050 and even more than 490% for wood-and bark-based mixes. We just won´t have enough growing media in 2050 if we don´t react now.

Lack of material means also a gap in food production and less greener environment. Every step towards sustainable production is needed.

Nagu paljud teavad, on Mikskaar AS nüüd uue nimega - Mikskaar Miksgrow AS – see muutus tähistab uut ajastut, kus panustame veelgi enam innovatsiooni, jätkusuutlikkusse ja kasvu.
Mikskaar on olnud 30 aastat tugeval vundamendil, arendades uuenduslikke substraate, mis parandavad taimede kasvu.

Even if you know how it's done, a quick reminder can be helpful.😉 Watch short video showing an easy way to open and process Mikskaar compressed bales.

👉 Steps for best results:
🌱 Open the compressed bale
🌱 Use a shovel or any tool to break it apart.
🌱 Sprinkle water on the substrate to make it evenly moist.
🌱 Mix the substrate well.
🌱 Spread the mixed substrate evenly in your trays.
🌱 Remember to recycle the plastic bag!

Wow, what a day May 15th was! We still can't believe it🥇

Our team is over the moon to announce that after a long and intense journey, we won first prize in the Design MasterClass!🚀 (Out of 20 ambitious companies)

The Design MasterClass is a product development program aimed at implementing design thinking in companies. It focuses on understanding the importance of strategic design in creating innovation and increasing the capacity to use strategic design, particularly through the implementation of design-led product development processes.

The Design MasterClass also helps to reduce product development risks and develop unique products/services that customers truly need.
