An Arte is the name of a campground and organic farm located on a small island in Aswan. Across from Elephantine Island (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elephantine) and next to Kitchener's island (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kitchener%27s_Island), the island has magnificent views of the East and West Banks and is surrounded by majestic rock formations and the varied wild life of the Nile's ecosyste
m. The island is also home to a small and growing organic vegetable and duck farm and is a short boat ride from downtown Aswan. Campers with their own tents can be accomodated on one of the many beautiful sites on the island. Since most of the island grounds remain in their natural state, no built facilities (including bathrooms) are yet available, but for that small price you can enjoy the untouched wilderness of the campsite. Volunteering opportunities are also available for those who wish to work on their farming skills or who whish to contribute to the development of various aspects of the campsite/organic farm. All ideas are welcome, and the managers are open to discussing your volunteering ideas. Campers may also choose to sleep instead in covered felluca parked on one of the islands magical bays.
