Egypt faces many problems , one of its major problems is that about 92.3% of its area is not reclaimed , they are arid areas , so we focused on how to improve the use of these arid areas as we found that by this we will solve other two major problems which are urban congestion and the exponential population growth that may be we can not deal with in the future if we kept like this. We found that t
he quickest method to improve the use of arid areas and reclaim it is too construct houses that could depend on itself in the arid areas and overcome harsh environment in arid areas ,and if the idea succeeded, these houses could be built in compounds that could depend on itself completely in the desert without any need for support from outer area of the compound . According to our researches the house idea can be applied and will succeed by a percent of 90%, its an environmental house that would depend on environment as a source for getting water, electricity, and may be other things. The house is built to stand high speed of wind in arid areas , isolate outer noisy sounds of wind movement and others, isolate the unbearable heat of outdoors in arid areas, use little amount of electricity and to have healthy environment inside it. We made a prototype for the house with scale 1:30 to the reality, it can be tested for the temperature as it’s made of two boards of foam which have an air gap between them like the method of real house but instead of red bricks we used foam boards, when we conducted the test plan, it succeeded as we found the temperature inside the house cooler when it was too hot outside, and found it warmer inside when it was too cool outside. The most expensive part of the house after its cost of building is its source of electricity which is an off grid solar system if it’s not in a compound but just in the desert, but if it is in a compound there will be a basic source for all the houses of the compound which may be a nuclear battery that of course will be away a lot from the compound to avoid its danger. The house cost would be suitable beginning from high layer of normal income citizens, and if built in compounds this would decrease a lot of its cost so that it could be suitable beginning from low layer of normal income citizens so a lot of people can afford its cost. If the idea was applied, the arid areas will be better reclaimed solving many problems that faces Egypt. The cost to construct all of these is 552142 EGP and let’s give a probability of increasing or decreasing in the price by 50000 EGP, as some parts of house may be changed with its prices like the price of the land built on , price of solar system parts and its installation according to family’s amount of usage of electricity , etc.…
So the minimum cost of house is 502142 EGP and the maximum cost is 602142 EGP but remember that owners won’t have to pay any bills to the government.If the house is built in compounds, where each compound has a basic center source for at least electricity and may be also water, this will decrease the price too much as the price of solar and water system for the home represents more than 1/3 of the cost of house.
