Débora Mesa will present "Structures of Landscape" at the Accademia di Architettura, Università della Svizzera italiana, in Mendrisio, on November 5, 2026, as part of the Atelier Angonese lecture series.

Drawing from Ensamble Studio's work at Tippet Rise Art Center in Montana, the lecture will examine how architecture can emerge directly from the land, using the ground as both material and formwork. Through experimental techniques of excavation, casting and construction, these interventions redefine the boundaries between natural formations and human-made structures, creating spaces that belong intrinsically to their surroundings.

Responding to the atelier's theme of "Permanence," Débora will reflect on the relationship between geology, material transformation and time, considering how architecture can establish a lasting dialogue with the territory while embracing its continuous evolution.

Antón García-Abril will present “On-Off” at the Colexio Oficial de Arquitectos de Galicia (COAG), tracing the evolution of Ensamble Studio's architectural practice and its ongoing exploration of the relationship between onsite construction and offsite fabrication.

From early works such as the SGAE Headquarters, Hemeroscopium House and The Truffle, where material, structure and construction processes became central to architectural experimentation, to more recent developments including Panticosa, Parla 5x and the Oceana Innovation Hub in Barbados, the lecture will reflect on a continuous journey of research and innovation. These projects reveal how the integration of design, engineering and manufacturing opens new possibilities for architecture, bringing together industrial precision, local craftsmanship and environmental responsibility.

We are honored to be featured in the latest edition of Platform Architecture and Design, Issue 59, where the central theme of "Utopia" serves as the foundation for a profound conversation about our practice. In an extensive interview with Luca Molinari, Antón García-Abril and Débora Mesa reflect on the origins of Ensamble Studio, defining it as an idealistic endeavor that unites an artistic vision with the rigorous development of the technologies needed to realize it. From our beginnings, our conviction has remained unchanged: architecture cannot simply be about drawing ideas from a distance, but about immersing ourselves fully in the physical transformation of matter.

The dialogue with Luca Molinari explores the fertile territory of indeterminacy, examining the productive tension where mathematical precision and natural imperfection converge. This dynamic manifests as an ongoing dialogue between industry and nature—a relationship we describe as "Stones and Beams." On one end of this spectrum, our work pushes the boundaries of computational design and industrialized manufacturing at Ensamble Fabrica in Madrid. We are thrilled to share that our Structures of Landscape at Tippet Rise Art Center in Montana have been featured in a recent article by The New York Times. Set against the vast backdrop of the Beartooth Mountains, Tippet Rise is a profound sanctuary where world-class music, monumental contemporary art, and untamed nature intertwine. This publication highlights the unique energy of the site, celebrating its mission to foster an immersive cultural experience that respects and amplifies the native landscape.

Our contribution to this environment is a series of site-specific installations titled "Structures of Landscape," which include the Beartooth Portal, the Inverted Portal, and the DOMO. Working directly with the geology of the site, we utilized local soil as formwork to cast these raw structures, pouring concrete into the earth to capture the terrain's inherent texture. By emulating natural processes like sedimentation and erosion, we sought to create interventions that function as poetic landforms, acoustic shelters, and deliberate spaces born directly from the earth itself.

We are honored to have our ongoing project, BIOS, featured in GA DOCUMENT 169: INTERNATIONAL 2026. This publication and its accompanying exhibition at the GA Gallery in Tokyo highlight the latest architectural design trends and ongoing developments from around the world.

Situated within the industrial fabric of Alcobendas in Madrid, BIOS acts as a surgical intervention that reimagines the traditional office space. Moving decisively away from classical compartmentalization, the project utilizes the existing structure as a rigorous grid, introducing strategic cuts and voids in the horizontal plane to disrupt the density of the mass. These vertical shafts and light wells function as passive thermal engines, allowing natural light and ventilation to pe*****te the deep floor plates while fostering visual and social connections. The envelope is reimagined as a fully transparent volume protected by an undulating secondary skin of delicate rebars, acting as a functional op-art mesh. Accompanied by active systems like geothermal energy, photovoltaic arrays, and a sequence of vertical gardens, BIOS establishes a benchmark for a highly sustainable, connected, and dynamic workspace.

We are thrilled to announce that "The Paper Log: Shell and Core," our collaborative project with MIYAKE DESIGN STUDIO for ISSEY MIYAKE, is returning to Japan as a site-specific installation at 21_21 DESIGN SIGHT Gallery 3 in Tokyo. Running from August 13 to September 13, 2026, the exhibition reimagines the Paper Log, a compressed roll of pleated paper that acts as an industrial byproduct of the house's original garment pleating technology.

Following its debut in Milan, the project explores two process-driven approaches to this material, inspired by its circular marbling that resembles the growth rings of a tree. Our contribution, the "Shell" series, features objects of memory sculpted from delicate sheets peeled from the log, stabilizing ephemeral creases into an autonomous skin. This is presented in dialogue with "Core," a series of furniture prototypes investigating the dense mass of the material. For this first presentation in Japan, the exhibition introduces a rearranged layout with new pedestals, elevating the respective qualities of both the delicate shell and the solid core.

We are pleased to share that The Cloud at Les Jardins de Médongaule has been featured in the latest issue of AV Proyectos.

Currently under development in Yangpyeong, South Korea, this project serves as both the entrance and visitor center for a magnificent 170,000-square-meter garden. Designed to symbolize the entrance to paradise, The Cloud is a hybrid structure—part architecture, part landscape—that levitates above the terrain, allowing light, air, and water to become active materials in its construction. The project is featured in the issue's "In Construction" section and follows other works around the globe that showcase unique glass skins.

We are thrilled to be a part of the latest edition of a+u (Architecture and Urbanism) magazine, reflecting on why "Prefabrication Matters", alongside colleagues and practices featured in the issue, including ELEMENTAL, SUMMARY and People's Architecture Office, whose diverse architectural approaches collectively enrich this global discourse.

This publication highlights our ongoing cross-disciplinary research at the intersection of art, science, and industrialized building systems. Inside the issue, Antón García-Abril and Débora Mesa contribute an essay titled "What Future(s) for Prefabrication." The text explores the foundational philosophy behind WoHo (World Home) and the urgent need to address contemporary environmental and social challenges by integrating design, engineering, manufacturing, and assembly into a single, cohesive system. It is a reflection on returning architecture to its roots—managing material transformation while leveraging the most advanced technologies of digital manufacturing to create equitable, high-quality spaces.

The feature beautifully illustrates this trajectory through a selection of our pivotal projects. It spans the development of our own manufacturing laboratory, Ensamble Fabrica, to the recent residential construction of Parla 5x in Madrid, and extends to our latest material explorations in "The Paper Log: Shell and Core" for Issey Miyake in Milan. We are pleased to announce that Débora Mesa will be participating in "ENCUENTRO," a special dialogue session organized as part of the exhibition "REGENERACIONES: China y España en el espejo" in Barcelona.

Scheduled for tomorrow, Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at 11:00 AM, this international encounter brings together prominent architects and scholars from China and Spain to share diverse experiences and perspectives on urban regeneration. The panel will discuss innovative ways to approach inherited architecture and reshape contemporary cities in direct response to global sustainability challenges.

Débora will join an esteemed panel of speakers, including Iñaki Carnicero, Li Xiangning, Manuel Blanco, Xu Tiantian, Philip Feng Yuan, Shui Yanfei, Elena Orte, and Benedetta Tagliabue. We are pleased to share that the exhibition "REGENERACIONES: China y España en el espejo" continues its journey. After a highly successful run at La Casa De La Arquitectura in Madrid, this traveling showcase has now arrived in the heart of the Barcelona 2026 World Capital of Architecture. Curated by Manuel Blanco, Héctor Navarro, and Li Xiangning, the exhibition brings together a selected number of projects that demonstrate how architects from both countries are developing innovative ways to intervene on buildings, neighborhoods, and landscapes. It highlights a shared, powerful conviction: that the future of our cities relies more than ever on the actions of reusing, rehabilitating, and regenerating existing spaces.

The exhibition addresses urban regeneration as a vital strategy capable of combining sustainability, innovation, and the preservation of built heritage. At the same time, it emphasizes the importance of revitalizing local communities, reclaiming latent opportunities, and strengthening the profound bond between people and the places they inhabit. Our contribution to this dialogue is through Can Terra, our research project that transforms an abandoned sandstone quarry in the island of Menorca, challenging traditional conservation dogmas and infusing new, sustainable life into a forgotten landscape.
