Hi! I am Melissa Vickers an artist and maker living in Valencia, Spain. Providing practical and affordable interior design and decorating services.

I recently started playing with Lino cut thanks to my friend Nicole whose supplies I was able to bring back with me from the US.

I made a set of astrological signs and plan to play around by maybe adding some color. What’s your sign? I’m a Gemini. ♊️

Waking up to good news from the US. There was a blue wave and it looks like the American people have made their voices heard loud and clear.

Photo is from the other day when we were driving to the Costa Blanca. My intent was to take a photo of the castle on the hill but when I look as the photo, I realized I had also captured the heart shaped cloud behind it. What a lovely surprise!

Injecting some fun colors and patterns that I spotted last weekend on the entrance to a building in Villa Joyosa. I love that someone made the bold decision to use these together.

Thankful that last night turned out to be a peaceful evening in the city. The local government and businesses made the right call for added protection against possible threats.

Photo is of our dog, Sami on his walk yesterday. Had to get this photo of him standing on a spray painted heart on the ground.

Happy Halloween. Going back to the photos I took while visiting the US. This was in August in Wal-mart.
I guess it’s never too early to be prepared.

Unfortunately plans for Halloween in Valencia have been thwarted by a group of people online who are threatening to riot and cause damage to businesses and the city tonight. Similar to what happened last weekend in Barcelona and Bilbao. Businesses in the city center have covered their windows with plywood and many will not be opening. There will be an increased presence of police as well.

It’s a shame that a few people online are going to ruin what could have been a perfectly nice evening for everyone else.

Anyway, I hope for those of you elsewhere that you have a fun evening. Happy Halloween. 🎃 👻

Balance. Proportion. A bit of the regular and yet unexpected. Happy Friday.

Yesterday was a difficult day for Spain. The country is in a 3 day mourning period in honor of the people who died tragically in the train accident near Toledo. Please keep them and all affected in your thoughts and prayers.

Back home and savoring the moments of the weekend.

Villa Joyosa, a jewel of a beach town along the Costa Blanca. Very chill vibe. Lovely beaches, a chocolate factory and friendly people. What more could you ask for? It’s been nice to get away for a few days.
