Cattleya luteola, a widespread orchid species, this specimen in particular coming from Ecuador.
What i love about this species is the size of the plant, it reminds me of Brazilian rupiculous cattleyas (Hoffmanseggellas) but from tropical rainforest and easier to grow.

Yeah after the video I cleaned the pot from the weeds🤣🤣

Cattleya iricolor — honestly, this is a species I had half abandoned for quite some time. I struggled a lot with it in indoor growing conditions; it never really wanted to grow properly and slowly kept declining.

Everything changed once it went into the greenhouse. It immediately started producing stronger, more robust pseudobulbs, and this year it finally rewarded me with this wonderful blooming.

The flowers are delicate and elegant, with a soft yellow tone that I absolutely love. These thinner, more refined flowers really have their own charm — not everything striking has to be bold or flashy.

And the best part was definitely the fragrance. It filled the entire greenhouse… absolutely incredible.

A beautiful species from Ecuador.

I want to start sharing more photos in between reels too.
Sometimes a single frame has its own beauty — a chance to stop for a moment and appreciate the details instead of listening to an annoying man talking nonsense 🤣🤣

This species is once again Cybianthus anthuriophyllus.
Just enjoy the pictures.

One of the nicest Ecuadorean Cattleyas, on my last trip to Ecuador I could see maximas all over ecuador people used to put them in fence post and all around their gardens, it is a quite hardy species, but never saw an alba in situ, and they are spectacular!

Masdevallias have been one of my favorite orchid genera since I first started in the plant hobby many years ago. I still remember reading about them in a book and instantly knowing I had to try growing them myself.

At that time, I knew almost nothing about the requirements of these orchids… so, of course, I ended up killing every single one 😅
To be fair, the Spanish summer did not help either.

Over the years, I kept experimenting with different setups, temperatures, humidity levels, and growing methods, trying to understand what these incredible orchids really needed.

One thing I learned is that, no matter what the literature says about plant requirements, every place and every setup is different. A closed terrarium is one thing — there you can control almost everything almost perfectly because it’s such a small environment, and honestly, I had very good results growing them that way.

But greenhouses are a completely different story. Every greenhouse has its own microclimates, airflow, humidity pockets, hot zones, cooler corners… and that’s also part of the fun. Learning your own system, understanding how it behaves through the seasons, and discovering which plants thrive in each specific spot.

And even though the species in this reel is not technically a highland species, I have noticed that almost all Masdevallias — and honestly most Pleurothallids — seem to benefit from cooler, more highland-like conditions.

After years of testing, failing, and adjusting, I finally found ways to keep them happy even through our extreme summers. And honestly, seeing them thrive now makes the whole journey worth it.

Sulcorebutia arenacea a bolivian cactus that has been with me since the very beginning. Each year it produces this incredible floral arrangement, that only last 1 day, so you got to be fast!!

I got this Schomburgkia I think now they are all Laelias but not sure, as a noid species and finally tofay it has open it flowers that will help us giving it an appropiate identification.
I have arrived to the conclusion that it is a S. superbiens ‘alba’ but if anyone has another opinion I would love to hear about it!

Lycianthes medusocalyx a plant from the Solanaceae family, same family as tomato, potato, peppers… but with some incredible hairy purple leaves! If If I remember correctly this species first arrived to Europe from Ecuador, not sure if it is true or not and if it is native to other neotropical countries, nevertheless it is a jewel!!
