Our competition concept for the new Museum of Architecture and Design in Helsinki celebrates the rich heritage and forward-looking spirit of Finnish and Nordic design on a global stage.
Located on Helsinki’s South Harbor, part of a UNESCO World Heritage district, the museum is envisioned as an open, invitational landmark connecting the city’s historic core to its maritime edge. Its circular form pivots with the harbor, framing shifting relationships between land, light, and water.
The design honors ecological responsibility through natural light from north-facing skylights, locally sourced wood interiors, and copper cladding that will age gracefully beside the sea.
While ultimately not built, our design proposal has just been recognized with a BLT Built Design Award 2025 in the Architectural Design – Cultural Category.
