Miksi palkata arkkitehti suunnittelemaan pientalo? Arkkitehti näkee tontin potentiaalin, ja osaa sijoittaa talon toiminnot päivänvalon kierto ja näkymät huomioiden. Arkkitehti ottaa huomioon alusta saakka myös asemakaavan reunaehdot.
Onko sisääntulo taloon kutsuva? Paistaako olohuoneeseen ilta-aurinko? Pääseekö saunasta vilvoittelemaan suojaisaan tilaan? Pakettitalossa harvemmin kaikki toiminnot osuvat tontille juuri optimaalisella tavalla. Entä neliöiden käyttö? Halutaanko pienet, kotoisat makuusopet ja iso oleskelualue, vai sittenkin makuuhuoneisiin tilaa lapsen sängylle, työpöydälle ja harrastuksille? Paljonko säilytystilaa on tarpeeksi?

Is the entrance to the house inviting? Does the evening sun shine into the living room? Can you cool off in a sheltered space from the sauna? In a prefabricated house, all functions rarely coincide in an optimal way. What about the use of square meters? Do you want small, cozy sleeping alcoves and a large living area, or do you still want space in the bedrooms for a child’s bed, a desk and hobbies? How much storage space is enough?
Architects have the professional skills to consider these issues as part of the draft design process - and to offer options for the client to consider. A house designed by an architect creates a unique entity, tailored to the location and the client’s needs.
