PAVE Architects Ltd is a design office that hails from the latitudes of four seasons. We create and execute comprehensive aesthetical solutions that aim to make the difference. While our creations have proven to be unique and versatile, three things can be found in every one of them: uncontested quality, meticulous attention to client’s wishes and the fact that even though considering ourselves as experts in our field, we really do not want to take everything so bloody seriously.

Our PAVE Studio summer party

Before the holiday season begins, we took a moment to celebrate the start of summer together. The evening was a reminder of how naturally PAVE Studio adapts from a workplace into a setting for gatherings, good food and time spent together by the river.

As we get ready for our second summer in PAVE Studio, it felt good to enjoy the place together outside of work schedules. The evening served as a much needed break to slow down, enjoy each other’s company and appreciate everything our still relatively new studio has to offer.

While summer is in full swing, these glimpses into Arcora Boutique Hotel & Villas offer a look ahead to the atmosphere being created for every season. Expansive windows draw the landscape into the restaurant and lounge spaces, while natural timber, stone and carefully layered lighting create warmth and comfort throughout.

Whether gathering around the fireplace in winter or dining beneath the midnight sun, the interiors are designed to maintain a strong connection to the surrounding landscape. Inspired by Lapland’s eight seasons, the ever changing Arctic environment is reflected not only in the views beyond the windows, but also in the atmosphere, colours and material palette of the interiors. Every space continues Arcora’s vision of bringing architecture, interiors and the Arctic environment together as one experience

Every project starts with a conversation.

Before plans, drawings and decisions, there is time spent understanding the place, the people and the purpose behind the project. Sketching remains an important part of that process, helping ideas take shape and opening new ways of looking at a challenge.

Our work is guided by context, functionality and long term thinking. We believe the strongest solutions emerge when architecture, practicality and buildability are considered together from the very beginning.

Good architecture is rarely about a single building. It is about creating places that belong, endure and work well for the people who use them.

Another summer starting at PAVE Studio, and another season of ideas and new projects taking shape.

As the landscape around the studio comes into bloom, so does the work happening within it. Sketches evolve into discussions, discussions into plans, and plans into places that will shape everyday life for years to come.

PAVE Studio is where projects are explored, challenged and developed. A place where architecture, work and everyday life come together, and where new ideas are given the space to grow.

What has been happening around PAVE Studio now continues inside.

Connecting People brings together artists, works and conversations within the studio space by the Oulujoki river. Curated by Jaakko Mattila, the exhibition explores the meeting point between art, architecture and people through a collection shaped by artists, for artists.

For us, PAVE Studio has always been about more than a building. It is a place designed for encounters, culture and shared experiences, and this exhibition becomes part of that continuing idea.

The Nooks bench has arrived at our riverside pier in Nokkalanranta. Sitting by the Oulujoki, framed by spring greenery, calm water and views across the river, it has already begun to shape the atmosphere of the space in a new way.

Part of the Oulu2026, The Nooks project is about transforming urban spaces into welcoming places for people to pause, gather and spend time together. The colourful bench brings a playful new layer to the pier, contrasting against the timber dock and quiet riverside landscape.

As Nokkalanranta continues to evolve, the arrival of The Nooks bench reflects our vision for the riverside: open, shared everyday spaces that invite people to slow down and enjoy the surroundings together.

The interior design of the Genelec Lounge at Fotografiska PLAY centres around sound, atmosphere and pause within the larger exhibition experience.

The lounge and its adjoining Sound Room draw from Oulu, Iisalmi and the surrounding northern landscape. Soft materials, controlled lighting, greenery and nature inspired textiles create an environment that encourages visitors to slow down and immerse themselves in sound, while the Sound Room shifts the atmosphere towards Hailuoto and Nallikari, with references to reeds, sand and wind shaping a more intimate listening experience.

Designed in collaboration with Genelec as part of the Fotografiska PLAY exhibition for the Oulu 2026 European Capital of Culture year.

In 2022, we redesigned the rooms of Original Sokos Hotel Arina around themes rooted in Oulu and northern Finland.

Inspired by Summer Night, Salmon and Tar, each room was shaped through its own material palette and atmosphere. Soft greens, warm pinks and deep tar black tones create distinct moods, while layered textiles, textured panel walls, dark steel details and carefully selected furniture tie the interiors into a unified whole with a more personal, locally grounded hotel experience.

The home shows how the building’s architectural ideas continue at an interior scale. High ceilings, large windows and a clear layout create a bright, open apartment where city views, privacy and everyday living come together.

Plaanatorni was designed as a vertical landmark for city centre living in Oulu. Its architecture brings together height, light and urban connection. The street level supports everyday services and movement, while the homes above open towards the city with views, privacy and carefully planned living spaces.

The result is an urban home environment where the energy of the centre and a sense of calm can exist side by side.
