it had started as a furniture and joinery shop and later in the years was joined by his brother Late Haji Mohammed Hanif. The business gradually grew and established as Popular Furniture Limited .The company diversified into other business such as Hardware wholesaling /retailing , timber products ,concrete block/grill manufacturing plant , polyurethane foam making plant , aluminium joinery works
and bedding s.Later in the years the company had established a timber yard, foam factory, a block factory and hardware shop. The company again established itself as Popular Furniture & Hardware Limited.The company became a country wide establishment; having it`s branches in most of the city/towns of Fiji Islands. In 1994, the company had suffered a major peril. A fire had destroyed the company`s flagship outlet loosing it`s head office, furniture joinery, hardware shop, bulkstores , upholstery factory, aluminium shop and glass shop, hence leading the company to split the businesses and again Popular Furniture Limited was established. The Company thereafter is being run by second generation brothers; Mohammed Farook Shah, Mohammed Galib Shah, Mohammed Ishtiaq Shah. The company consist of a timber yard, and an advance furniture/ joinery and upholstery manufacturing facilities. However, the company suffered a second peril in 2005, the factory was completely destroyed by fire whilst working hours through electrical fault, hence leaving the company with only its timber yard and timber processing plant. Due to demand and 150 workers strong the company yet again established it`s furniture/joinery /bedding industry and continues to provide furniture to the Republic of Fiji Islands and neighbouring Pacific Island nations. Popular Furniture Limited is also the licensed manufacturer of Sleepyhead Beddings in Fiji making a brand name beddings for the domestic and commercial markets.
