CAUKIN is a collective of architecture students working on a variety of design and construction projects worldwide. The team, consisting of 7 dedicated members, began working together in 2015 when the very first project, Playscape, was completed in Cambodia. CAUKIN’s working practice seeks to tackle social, environmental and economical problems through beautiful, well-crafted design. By seeking co

llaboration and the active involvement of local communities we hope to make an impact on everyday lives and the architectural community as a whole.

It’s hard to believe it’s been 3.5 years since we completed the Urata Lookout Cafe on Vanua Levu, Fiji! The cafe has become a very popular destination for those visiting the Savusavu area, whilst continuing to be managed and operated by the local team from Urata Village.

We hope to stop by the cafe with the summer 2026 Fiji team for a site visit, coffees and the unbelievable view! 👷🏼‍♀️☕️🌴

We’ve had a busy few months! Our summer of building has seen the completion of 8 separate buildings across The Philippines, Guatemala, Indonesia and the UK. We’ve been joined by over than 150 participants from all over the world who have spent between 3 - 8 weeks grafting on site to complete community spaces, therapy spaces, farmers huts, accommodation and even a mini floating house!

This time last week visiting our sites on Tuvalu’s outer islands, Nanumea and Nanumaga 🏝️

Were excited to be working on some important projects to upgrade vital marine and land based infrastructure for these islands, which are at risk from rising sea levels as a result of climate change. The projects include new passenger ferry terminals and associated cargo storage facilities on Tuvalu’s two outermost islands.
