Our product advice tool is the result of our close cooperation with our distributors and growers. It provides a quick advice on which of our products suits the growers needs best. The advice given is based on parameters applicable to given crop and region.

Shading paints that wear off gradually over time and do not need to be cleaned off at the end of the season. This range is designed to offer growers an effective, user-friendly solution.

Huy has 9 ha of greenhouses, both plastic, and glass. He grows tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, and aubergines in many different varieties to spread the risk. Without any protection from the sun, the crops receive a shock in the summer heat: They wilt, become sunburnt and suffer quality problems such as blossom end rot. Transpar lets through the light that is essential for photosynthesis (PAR light), but blocks out the heat radiation (NIR, near infra-red) so the greenhouse and plants remain cooler.

Getting the crops to continuously grow well is the biggest challenge during the extreme summer heat in Ontario. Transpar makes the greenhouse climate at Howard Huy Farms, Leamington, somewhat milder.

Less than 15% of the sun’s radiation is visible to us. Coincidentally, this largely corresponds with the region of the spectrum that plants use for photosynthesis. We can produce coatings that manage a much larger area of the spectrum, yielding better results in terms of production and quality.

All radiation from the sun, whether it is PAR light, UV or infrared, has an effect on the growth and production of crops. You can selectively manage it with coatings that increase the positive effects and inhibit the negative ones.

There are many suppliers of removable shading agents on the market. The choice is extensive. Wil Vollebregt of Vollebregt Optimal Cleaning each year critically reviews the supply. One of the products he likes to apply to greenhouses is Eclipse LD. This is a removable white shading paint for greenhouses. It protects crops against too much light and heat throughout the season and can be applied on the outside of all standard greenhouses.

At WaLeRo B.V., a grower of sweet peppers in Bleiswijk in the Netherlands, Transpar is applied to the greenhouse around mid-May, depending on the weather forecast. This Sudlac coating helps create a more comfortable greenhouse climate that enhances the plants’ performance.
Transpar is a removable shading agent based on a special pigment that reflects heat radiation very efficiently, while maintaining high grow-light levels.

At LVG Plants, the largest plant grower in South Africa, a three-person team is busy applying Eclipse LD. This removable Sudlac shading agent protects plants against excessive heat and light. ‘Without shading agents it is simply impossible to grow plants in South Africa’.

Coating is an essential component of the entire production process at LVG Plants. Depending on the plant species, multiple layers of Eclipse LD are often applied to the greenhouse film during a growing cycle.
