Full house renovation with modification of the rear facade, transformation of an existing outbuilding into a garden office and swimming pool, in Mérignac, South-West France.

Someone told us this weekend that we should publish more of our works here. So we are listening.

This planning permission has been approved this morning.

Julie and Gavin and their twins are now starting the works to transform this property into their forever home.

We are coming to the French Property Exhibition in London in the 24th and 25th of January 2026!

The French Property Exhibition, London is held over two days every January and is a ‘must attend’ for anyone who is serious about buying, renovating or constructing a property in France.

Sweetch Architects will be offering speed design consultations during the 2 days so feel free to come with some pictures, plans and questions.

SW-055-VER // Denis, Delphine and their family

January is the month for new beginnings.

Sweetch first ever residential project in Paris has now started on site, right after the new year. The works will be going on for more than a year, as we are fully renovated and extended (over structure + side) this 1950s house.

Let’s hope the current snowy weather will not delay anything.

Currently putting on CAD the site survey of this house in Mérignac, Gironde.
Measuring, sketching, understanding the existing architecture of a property.

Accurate drawings of the existing buildings are the foundation before any design can truly begin.

Maybe one day Sweetch will build in Tunis, for now we are so grateful to have Faten in our team.

She has been an amazing guide over the last week in Tunis.

💬 Beautiful feedback from John and Nazy after our design meeting.

When I started my architecture practice, I decided that I would always put clients, people’s dreams and needs before the design itself.

At Sweetch Architects we are different from other companies, we offer a safe space for clients to talk, share what they need and what they like or don’t like.

SW-030-ROS // House renovation Roscoff

We have a new entrance door ! 🥳🥳

Yes it’s just a door, nothing special… but it’s such a big step on this project.
The works have started more than 2 years ago. Then stopped for almost a year as the contractor we had on site disappeared for no reason…

Because that’s also the reality of construction.

In an area where contractors are rare and busy, it took many phone calls, emails, meetings, to find new contractors. And we are finally so happy that the works have started again.

Big shout-out to our lovely clients, Tim, Sam and Liz who are the most patient people I know. 🫶🏼

SW-051-ANT // Rose and Ben’s French pool and outdoor kitchen

We met Rose and Ben a year ago at the French Property Exhibition, organised by French Property Exhibition.

They bought a gorgeous Maison de Maitre in the Vienne department, in France (86). The property is situated in the centre of the town, right in front of the Mairie and of a Listed church.

The clients have quite a long scope of works for their property, elements which will be done by stages, over a couple of year.
But the priority was to built a pool, so their kids, friends and family can properly enjoy a French summer.

We focused on designing an inground pool, with a really neat design and neutral tones which was also a request of the conservation architect. In line with the pool, we have designed a roof structure to protect the outdoor kitchen, hot tub and lounge area. The volume is fully open however full height wooden shutters, on rails, can be sliced to close the volume on one facade or more.

The planning permission for this project has been issued in March 2025 and we are patiently waiting for a response from the Mairie and the conservation architect.
