David Serero and Dorothée Sipp will participate in the World Congress Building Green 2026.
Bundesverband GebäudeGrün e. V. - BuGG
📅 June 9–11, 2026
📍 Berlin, Germany
Over the course of three days, the congress will focus on the topic of greening buildings (roofs, facades, interiors), and sustainable urban solutions will be at the heart of international discussions.
🌍 Why is green building essential?
Green systems offer key benefits for climate adaptation and building performance:
✔️ Natural thermal insulation
✔️ Reduced energy consumption
✔️ Stormwater management
✔️ Improved air quality
✔️ Reduced urban noise
✔️ Creation of urban biodiversity
🎤 Presentation by David Serero and Dorothée Sipp :
“Growing Thermal Insulation on Building Facades: A Design-Led Research Toward Living and Bioactive Envelopes”
🌱 Their research presents a design-led approach exploring the possibility of growing thermal insulation directly on existing building facades through living, bioactive layers composed of mosses (including sphagnum species), lichens, and associated microflora. It positions the architectural envelope not as a fixed technical assembly, but as a living and evolving interface between building, climate, and ecosystem.
