The kitchen cloth has a longer history than we tend to give it credit for.

Linen towels appeared in European kitchens as early as the 17th century — first as practical workhorses in farmhouse and monastery kitchens, later folded neatly into linen presses as a mark of a well-kept home. The striped weave pattern, still used today, originated as a way to tell kitchen linens apart from table or bath ones at a glance. Function made beautiful by necessity.

Our tea towels carry that same logic — woven on traditional looms in Lithuania, in natural linen that grows more useful the longer you use it. No excess. Just cloth that knows what it’s for.

Do you have a kitchen cloth you’ve kept for years?

The best mornings of summer have no schedule. A book, a smaller body pressed close, bare feet in the sheets — nowhere to be for a while yet.

Our striped linen softens with every wash, until it becomes exactly the kind of bed nobody wants to leave.

Somewhere between the meadow and the sea, time does something different.

This is the season to bring a chair outside and stay there — with a good book, a linen throw across your knees, and no particular reason to go back in.

The Paolo is woven with that kind of afternoon in mind.

What makes linen soft?

Not chemical softeners. Not special finishing treatments.

True linen softness comes from washing and drying.

Some manufacturers use chemically softened fabric before it is sewn. It creates an immediate soft feel, but it is not the same as naturally softened linen.

At LinenMe, every product is washed at 40°C after sewing and then tumble dried for a minimum of 40 minutes. This process relaxes the linen fibres and creates the softness you feel from the very first day.

Can you achieve the same result at home with unwashed linen fabric?

Not really. Industrial washing and drying processes are much more intensive and carefully controlled than home laundering.

The good news is that once you purchase a LinenMe product that has already been washed and softened, that softness is there to stay. With proper care, linen becomes even more beautiful and comfortable with time.

For 30 years, we have been making linen the way it should be made — patiently, responsibly, and without shortcuts.

The quiet language of morning.

Sunlight moves slowly across the linen, tracing shadows that change from moment to moment. Nothing dramatic, nothing hurried—just the gentle rhythm of a room waking up.

Some of the most beautiful parts of the day are the ones we almost miss.

The afternoon slows here — chamomile in a green jug, something cold and yellow melting at its own pace, the gingham cloth catching whatever light is left.

Some summers ask very little of us. A balcony. A table laid without ceremony. Linen that has been washed enough times to feel like it was always there.

Before anything reaches your home, it begins here. A workroom in Lithuania, fabric laid out, patterns waiting, a roll of linen catching the morning light through pine-framed windows. This is where thirty years of making lives — not in the finished piece alone, but in the quiet work that comes before it.

Every length of linen we weave passes through hands that know it well. Three generations of that knowledge, still in the same building.

Summer dressing, at its best, is hardly dressing at all. A shirt that softens with every wash. Sleeves rolled up by midmorning. The fabric cooling as the temperature climbs.

Our men’s linen shirt in medium blue stripe — woven from European Flax® certified linen, made in Lithuania, made to be worn without thinking about it.
