CARNIVAL COLOURS: No, I haven’t lost the plot completely and got the carnival month wrong. Have a friend coming to stay this week and thought it would be nice to put up the bunting for her.

AERON ARTS: The owners of Portland House have always supported the arts. I am carrying on that tradition in my own way through chairing this great little charity providing free arts and music sessions to local youngsters. Come along to our fundraiser on Saturday. It will be a fun evening and all in a good cause too.

WOVEN WOES: Great to see Glenara included in this collection of woven sails of shipwrecked boats by the talented Vicky Ellis. The unlucky barque was rescued, restored and captained for several years by Portland House’s very own Captain Benjamin Davies.

A CAWDOR CHRISTMAS: I like to think that our own bedroom suite in Portland House is quite special but the Dinefwr Suite at the Cawdor Hotel in Llandeilo has a real wow factor. The photos don’t do it justice: it is huge and superbly appointed. As it was our stay for Xmas night we even had our own Xmas tree too.
The Xmas lunch was also excellent, though I can’t imagine when we will want to eat again. At least walking up the 3 flights of stairs gave us some exercise!

Aberaeron's first library was established in 1883 by JM Howell, one of Portland House’s most famous residents. He will be turning in his grave about the plans to move it to Penmorfa.
Please like or share the Cambrian News On line Article, it is then more likely to appear in the printed version.
County Hall was the right place for our library then, it is the right place now!
