This weekend, I finally (I've been trying to secure a place for months!) had the pleasure of attending my first basket weaving class.
I spent the day with the very talented Louise McLean at her studio in Portrush, Co. Antrim. Louise is a basketweaver, willow artist and owner of Craft NI with her husband. I should also say, she has the patience of a saint 😂.
I left with a beautiful basket that I'm extremely proud of and had a lovely day connecting with other crafters.
I heartily recommend a visit.

Are you vertically challenged like me and have to shorten every pair of trousers?? I hate it!!!

I have been wearing these way too long for ages but I tripped over myself once too often and thought today's the day I fix the length.

I couldn't find my tape measure.

I don't have any black thread.

I used the original hem to measure and fold.

I used dark grey thread (not dark enough it turns out 🤣).

I have puckers everywhere as the fabric is so slippy.

The tension was too tight.

But you know what? It's done! Took 15 mins. No more falling over my own trouser legs.

If anyone judges these hems, that's really not my problem. They look ok TO ME and that's all that matters.

This is your sign to just do the thing.

In this relaxed hands-on class, you will be guided through the steps to craft your own unique spring-inspired wreath using spring bulbs and seasonal plants. All materials and equipment will be provided.

3 sleeps to go🎅!!

Today I made the centrepiece garland for our Christmas table. It was quick, easy and free, yet looks absolutely beautiful 😍.

I cut some 8mm rope to size and used binding wire to attach groups of foliage onto the length of rope. Start at one end and add each little group to cover the stems of the group before.

In this garland I used variegated foliage, bamboo, skimmia, ivy, copper beech, eucalyptus and spruce from the garden.

I left it to dry off for a bit and for all the little beasties to relocate before I popped it onto the table.

I love it, it smells amazing and it cost absolutely nothing. If you had to buy the wire or rope it would still be less than £5.

This one is 4.5m long - can you imagine how much it would cost to buy a fresh foliage garland this size?? xx

The studio has had it's last class of the year and I'm officially off duty ♥️.
