One year ago today I took a leap and started my own painting business.
What a year it’s been. A proper whirlwind of early mornings, long days, learning curves, problem-solving on the fly, and more brushes washed than I care to count. There were moments of doubt, moments of pride, and plenty of times I had to stop and think, I can’t believe this is actually working.
Along the way, I’ve also been lucky enough to have experiences I probably wouldn’t have had if I hadn’t taken the risk. Working in different homes, meeting so many different people, taking on jobs that pushed me out of my comfort zone, and seeing the direct results of my own hard work has been massively rewarding. Every job has added something to the journey, whether it was a lesson learned, a new skill picked up, or simply a moment to step back and appreciate how far things have come in just a year.
I’m incredibly grateful to every single client who trusted me in my first year. From small jobs to big transformations, every booking, recommendation, and kind word has helped keep me busy and moving forward. It genuinely means a lot to know people were happy enough with my work to invite me back or pass my name on.
Running your own business isn’t easy, but this year has taught me so much, not just about the trade, but about patience, consistency, and backing yourself when things feel uncertain.
Here’s hoping this new year brings more great clients, more opportunities, and even more experiences to look back on with pride. Thanks to everyone who’s been part of the journey so far. Onwards and upwards.
