On Friday I took myself out to the national stadium to take some shots of my OUTR SCOTLAND World Cup t-shirt. I’ve not been out the house a lot in the last month or so, so this felt like a big deal.
Getting there wasn’t the issue, taking photos of myself out front with many staff, public and football personalities coming and going felt big.
For someone who’s taken photos in some sort of ‘professional’ capacity for almost 2 decades, I am far more comfortable capturing the picture as opposed to being the picture.
At a time where my mental health is going up and down like a yo-yo, I felt accomplished doing this. Even if there is about 0.01% of the images useable.

The feeling that your reality isn’t real is a psychological experience known as derealization or depersonalization. Often a symptom of stress, anxiety, or trauma, it causes your surroundings or yourself to feel detached, dreamlike, or artificial. While unsettling, it is common and usually a protective mechanism, not a sign of losing your mind. Why It Happens? This sensation is essentially the brain’s way of “glitching” or over-filtering information when you are overwhelmed, overly tired, or highly anxious. It distances you from the immediate environment to protect you from stress.
