After completing an HND in furniture restoration at Glasgow Metropolitan college in 2008 I worked with one of Scotlands leading furniture designer-makers for 5 years before starting my own business. The restoration of antique furniture to it's former glory, whether fire, flood or accidental damage has been caused or if it just needs fres
hening up can be very time-consuming. In some cases, particularly where their may be extensive damage, it can cost more than the piece is worth in monetary value but the emotional value in an old family heirloom can be priceless. Good maintenance of antique furniture can help alleviate any problems before they begin, a light clean and french polish or wax finish every few years along with inspection of joints, doors, drawers etc can help keep any piece in tip-top condition for future generations. At Scott Macgregor Woodwork Ltd we will always give the best honest advice after inspection and offer a free quote for any work we recommend. Insurance repair work undertaken. Whilst not an actual qualified furniture designer, I have studied several era's of furniture design through my restoration education and have a personal preference of how I like good furniture to appear. If you are searching for a particular style or size for an item of furniture and it cannot be found on the high street I can advise on design and cost of making, please contact me for further information regarding this service. I have also diversified into interior joinery work including kitchen/bathroom/bedroom fitting. Built in storage solutions, under stairs and using alcoves and other "dead" spaces around the home are a speciality. I will also take on temping work from agencies or building firms. My Ltd company is registered with the CIS and has all relevant liability insurances. I have a CSCS card for site work.
