Having just had a busy "Open Weekend" at the Nursery here, we are now thinking about another busy weekend ahead with plants for sale at the SRGC Glasgow Show at Baljaffray Parish Church on Saturday 2nd May, followed by the Kirkcudbright Spring Plant Fair at the harbour Car Park on Sunday 3rd and the Threave Gardens Plant Fair at Castle Douglas on Monday 4th - if we have any plants left by then! We will bring as much as we can and will endeavour to keep some "goodies" to one side for each event.

We are looking forward to our next "Open Weekend" on Friday, Saturday and Sunday 24th, 25th and 26th April, 11.30am till...

We are looking forward to our next "Open Weekend" on Friday, Saturday and Sunday 24th, 25th and 26th April, 11.30am till 4.00pm each day. The forecast looks fairly good and the garden is looking good - even if I say that myself! - lots in flower, and lots still to come.

We have had a busy few days! We must firstly thank David Millward and his team of helpers for a great SRGC Show at Edinburgh on Saturday, a successful and enjoyable event. Then we had been invited back to the enthusiastic Glasgow Group of the SRGC where we gave a talk on Monday afternoon about the construction of the Crevice Garden at the Nursery. Then, on the way home today we had a very enjoyable visit to Wemyss Castle Gardens to see the drifts of Erythronium revolutum in the woodland and lots more plants in the walled garden. We will then be back up to Perth for the SRGC Show on Saturday which we are looking forward to.

Looking forward to meeting your members once again.

At this weeks Gardening Club lecture on Thursday 13th November, Neil and Sue Huntley, who run Hartside Nursery Garden in Cumbria, will talk about ‘Roscoeas, Primulas and other Woodland Plants’.

Neil and Sue have exhibited at various garden shows, including Harrogate, Chelsea, Malvern, Tatton and Hampton Court, where they have been awarded many Gold medals. Other honours include the Witan Award for Best New Exhibitor in Vincent Square in 1995, RHS Master Grower at Tatton 2022 and in 2023 they received the Lyttel trophy from the Alpine Garden Society.

The nursery is situated at very high altitude and specialises in hardy compact plants including alpines. They grow primulas, gentians, saxifrages, roscoeas, erythroniums and trilliums together with some small ericaceous shrubs.

The good news is there will be plants for sale ✔👏
