Oh man, tidying can feel overwhelming. I get it. You don’t know where to start. You feel like there is so much to do to gain back control of your home & life, that it’s almost impossible to know where to begin or how to start. It’s the whole staircase to climb & may feel unsurmountable.

Believe me, I understand. Please know that you are not alone.
When struggling with overwhelm, I keep reminding myself that I don’t need to have all the answers right now. I just need to take the next step in the right direction. I don’t have to climb the whole staircase, I just have to take the first step. (Or in Disney terms it’s “Do the next right thing”. Thanks Anna of Arendelle 💚)

With the KonMari Method of Tidying there is a clear path to take. There is a first step & you build from there to surround yourself with joy. You don’t have to worry about the whole staircase, you just have to begin, trust the process & take that first step…

If you would like a helping hand, I am a Gold certified KonMari Consultant who can guide through your tidying journey. Drop me a lime.

✨24 for 2024✨

It’s about this time of year when all the good intentions surrounding New Year’s resolutions have dropped off which can lead to feelings of failure or defeat.

So instead, I opt for a list of things I’d like to achieve over the year that is concrete & tangible. Inspired by the brilliant , I started this tradition back in 2019 when I did 19 for 2019, then 20 for 2020 & so on. This is now my 6th year!

I love the motivation this list gives me to crack on & get these things achieved. Similar to the word of the year, there are no rules & you get to choose the difficulty level.

Some of my items are super simple & other items require a lot more time & effort. They are all things I’d like to do/try/see etc. You do you & have fun with it!
My recommendation is to put the list somewhere you can see it, to prompt you to drive forwards.

Some items from my list this year are:

🍈Do a pole handspring✅
🍈Do a muscle up on the Olympic rings
🍈Scan my childhood photos
🍈Donate blood
🍈Learn how to poach an egg properly
🍈Try a Cinnamon roll from
🍈Do the flying trapeze in Regents Park with

Do you do a 24 for 2024 list? Or are you inspired to try it this year? I’d love to know!!

✨Create a landing zone✨

Tidying with the KonMari Method is not only about surrounding yourself with joy: it’s also about making your life easier!

A super quick tip to streamline your life is to create a “Landing zone” for each person in the home. Whether this is a drawer, a small bowl or basket, designate a place, fairly central in your home (such as entry way or kitchen) to put all those bits & bobs you use when you leave the house or return to the home.

Wallet, keys, sunglasses, tissues, mints, catch-all, ear buds, torch, loose change etc. all need a spot.

Creating a “Landing zone” can help develop the new habit of putting things back in the same space every time. You’ll be surprised how easy it will become to keep track of these items, by giving them a home & sticking to it.

And the best part is you can use what you already have. Here I have re-purposed some old iPhone boxes & refreshed one of them with some limey style cardboard from a gift box for extra joy.

A Landing zone makes life that little bit smoother so you can spend more time on what you love!

✨Word of the Year: Play✨

It’s offical! This is my 11th year of picking a Word of the Year. Woohoo!

I started this annual habit back in 2014, inspired by the brilliant

Back then the word I chose was ‘Simplify’.
I was at the beginning of my de-cluttering journey & little did I know it would turn into my business!!

The idea of a ‘Word of the Year’ is to have an overarching theme for the whole year. It’s an alternative to resolutions & is something that can be fun aswell as motivating & inspiring.

You can’t get it wrong. This is just about the direction that you want to take your year, & something to keep at the forefront of your mind as you progress through the months.

2023 was an incredibly heavy year for me & so I am determined to hit 2024 with some lightness. So ‘play’ is my chosen theme.

Play isn’t just essential for kids. It has been shown to increase creativity, improve brain function, boost energy & help to keep us young.

So I am going to release my inner child & have a good old muck about this year. Wanna join me?

Would love to hear if a Word of the Year is something you do. Please comment to share your chosen word. It just might inspire someone else! 💚

The key to maintaining a tidy home is simply to put everything back in it’s place, so you’ll always know where to find it.

Still baffles my gang though!

Can you relate?! 😂

✨Folding your clothes✨

Yes, folding your clothes allows for increased visibility, accessibility & maximises storage space. Plus it looks super cute. BUT, it’s also about appreciating your clothes.

Every time you fold your clothes, it allows you to continue to check if an item sparks joy for you. Do you still get a thrill every time you wear it? Does the item add value to you? Does it allow you to do something you love or make you feel a certain way when you wear it? The criteria will be different for everyone, but folding allows you to appreciate those items that you have selected to keep & to feel grateful for what you have.

And increased gratitude is linked to increased joy. Horay!!

✨The 4 D’s✨

Whether it’s to use on your To Do list, Paperwork Inbox or your emails, using the 4 D’s can be a helpful tool in prioritising your tasks & time management, helping you to stay organised.

Delete: Maybe the task doesn’t even need doing at all? Assess how important it actually is. After all, deciding what not to do is as important as deciding what to do! This might also involve saying no initially so the task is never added to your pile to begin with.

Defer: Perhaps you can complete at a later date, to allow the focus to remain on what needs doing now? In that case, ensure you add a note to your Calendar or Reminders for a later date. You may find the task is not even relevant or necessary in due course…

Diminish: Batch you jobs together for maximum effect. For example, instead of checking email throughout the day, dedicate a specific time slot to do at once resulting in less time spent switching tasks. Or do a weekly food shop instead of a food shop every few days to reduce time & energy spent. Lots of options on this one.

Delegate: Do you really have to do all the things yourself? Can you reduce your workload by asking other family members or work collegues to pitch in & pass responsibility to others where possible?

Remembering the 4 D’s can help to reduce the overwhelm & keep you on track whether that’s in your home life, work life or both!

Have you tried the 4D approach?

Can you spot me?! Here’s little old me, caught on camera beaming at the lovely Marie Kondo. (As you look at the piccie, I’m just to the right of Marie. Feeling all the joy!😁)

It was a little over 4 years ago that I met at the KonMari Consultant Certification course in London 2019.

Marie’s vision was to be able to spread her joy-centred approach to tidying across the globe & she created the certified Consultant Program
to help facilitate that.

This training weekend was the beginning of my journey to become certified & I am incredibly proud to be part of the KonMari Consultant family. I am passionate about helping people bring more joy into their lives through tidying, & I love the work that I do.
