This is toughest, stoniest, weediest bit of the garden so I’ve given up and let the carex and snowdrops take over under the Amelanchiers. Good decision! It’s an unconventional yet delightful combination. Especially the odd tame variety which I am rubbish at keeping track of. Definitely a case of going with the flow.

Perfect example of grasses carrying a planting through the winter months. This bank was planted up in June with topsoil on solid chalk. Seems happy so far!
