Accidental edit… but I actually quite like it.

I took today’s quick talking-to-camera video into After Effects, started layering it over some of the visual work, and somehow ended up with this.

Bit of a glitch.
Bit of a mess.
Bit of me figuring things out.

But that’s probably a fair reflection of the process.

3D models, renders, drone shots, AI visuals, video editing… all starting to come together.

Not perfect — but different.

And sometimes different is worth posting.

Two weeks of work in just over a minute.

Site images.
Drone views.
AI visuals.
First frames.
Final frames.
5-second clips.
All stitched together into one animation.

From empty land to finished development.

This still blows my mind a bit.

Sometimes the best thing you can do is stop thinking and just move.

Shoes on.
Headphones in.
Favourite music on.
Out the door.

A walk usually sorts more than you think.

Caption option 3

People see a 60-second video.

What they don’t see is the work behind it.

This animation took a fortnight, with 30 final images used — and probably double that generated and tested to get the correct shots.

From concept to completed vision.
That’s the process. Full video I'll post tomorrow.

More views.
More messages.
A few enquiries.
Even a “biggest fan” on Facebook this morning.

Only problem now…

I’m the 3D modeller, estimator, admin department and social media guy.

Good problem to have though.

This one still blows my mind.

SketchUp model → scene mock-up → render → video.

It looks like magic, but it’s not just pressing a button.

The model matters.
The angles matter.
The construction knowledge matters.

AI is powerful — but it works best when you know what you’re building.

A wee look at a local development I’ve been working on.

Starting with the real site, then building up the layout, plot positions and future visuals.

These images are the base for the animation I’ll be putting together next.

Still keeping a few details under wraps for now… but it’s starting to take shape.

Most people look at a site like this…

and just see mud, tracks, blocks and foundations.

But this is the bit I enjoy.

Because once I’ve got the drawings, drone shots and the 3D model going…

you can start to see what it’s actually going to become.

That’s the difference.

It’s not just a muddy site anymore.

It’s a house taking shape before it’s built.

A young couple came to me wanting to rework their home.

Knocking down walls.
Changing the kitchen and dining area.
Making better use of an existing extension.

The problem is, it’s hard to picture all that properly from 2D drawings alone.

So I built it in 3D and created renders before any work starts.

That way they can see the layout, the flow, the light, and how the spaces connect.

Much easier to make decisions now than halfway through the build.

That’s where 3D really helps.

Most people drive past this and just see foundations and sub soil.

I look at it and already see the finished house.

That’s one of the reasons I’ve started using drone footage more in my workflow. It gives a completely different perspective of a site and makes it much easier to visualise what the project will become over the next few months.

From groundwork… to completed home.

Slowly taking shape.
