We have been really busy on site recently helping our customers with their various projects so it has been a little quite over here on our page…… 😢

Kitchen/Dining Room Flags

When Jack first got in touch with us about this project he was explaining he had seen some tiles but from his description it sounded like they were flags. Once I had been to look at the project they were actually flags that he wanted laying in the kitchen/dining room.

It was Jack’s first house and he was doing a lot of work right through the whole house so there was a lot of work going on so this needed to run smoothly and quickly. The kitchen floor was is a rough state and Jack was also wanting underfloor heating installed. So I fitted all the underfloor insulated boards which were pre-grooved to take pipes.

Once the pipes had been laid and tested I was able to carry on with fitting the flags. First we had to screed the floor to fully cover the pipes and give a sound smooth finish for the flags to be fitted. With it being a clear room and the kitchen was going to be fitted afterwards it made my job that bit easier. But overall doing it this way gives a far superior finish once the kitchen was fitted.

At first I was a little sceptical as I have never really fitted flags in a kitchen, but once it was all finished and grouted up the final job looked very effective.

Bathroom Refurbishment

David & Lorraine were ready for a full bathroom refurbishment as well as a new Condensing tank which was situated in the airing cupboard in the bathroom. It was a lot larger so there was quite a lot of adjusting to do to make it fit. Adjusting stud work and the doorway.

The bathroom walls and ceilings were in a bad state and not very sound to take the new tiles that Lorraine had picked. So we had to re do the walls especially on the window wall as they were so far out. They wanted to create a high ceiling to give the room a more spacious feel. Once we took the old ceiling down we exposed some beams and wanted to incorporate them into the project. The main wall on the bath was extended up to the roof, so made a nice large wall so there was plenty of room for them to shower.

New extractor fan was fitted and a hole drilled out of the gable end to help to get rid of the steam that is always created in bathrooms. Once we had finished the tiling work not just to the walls but also the floors. We decorated through out to give a full complete finish. This project was a real challenge from the very start and we were always hit with problems with it being an old property. The final finish looks fantastic and the client was extremely happy
