Several months ago, all the way back in August, we hinted at a project that we'd just started work on. We are finally able to show you our designs for Ashbourne Scout Hut!

Working alongside Heatons Planning Consultants, the brief for this project was to prepare a scheme ready for the submission of a planning application for a replacement scout hut. It will be built on the same site as the existing scout hut, North of the market place in Ashbourne.

The site is challenging, being long and narrow, with major level changes. We have used the levels create a lower ground floor storage area with a terrace over, and there is both a ramp and an external platform lift for accessibility.

Planting beds are used to soften the frontage and introduce some colour. The scheme follows the site parameters to achieve the maximum floor area for the hall. Externally, timber cladding is used to retain a flavour of the original building, which together with a glazed screen scheme presents a fresh and dynamic image towards the market place.

Good morning!

We've had a few enquiries recently which we would like to tell you a bit about. One was regarding a small site for domestic dwellings, potentially up to 20 properties, another for the conversion of an interesting two-storey agricultural building, and lastly, a project to convert a stone barn building in Peak Park.

Haydn is very much looking forward to going out and surveying each of the sites in the coming weeks - fingers-crossed the weather is kind so he can avoid doing them all in the rain!

We wanted to give you a preview of some construction work that has been stated for one of our clients.

This steelwork is for a two-storey domestic extension spanning over 8m. It will be a large family kitchen, dining, and sitting area on the ground floor, with an upstairs bedroom, en suite, and dressing room.

External construction for this project has been paused for the winter now, but extensive remodeling of internal spaces in the main property will continue in the meantime. This will include a reconfiguration of the internal layout, including a semi-circular staircase at the heart of the home (requiring some more fancy steelwork!).

Good morning! Apologies for the recent lull in posts and updates, we have been busy in the office and on site visits for various new projects. For the time being, there isn't much detail we can share with you; however, as soon as there is confirmation that the projects will be going ahead as planned, we'll be able to post about them.

We look forward to sharing some new designs with you soon!

This project was completed a little while ago. Our client wished to extend their Victorian townhouse to provide an open living space for the whole family. The glazed wall and skylights provide plenty of natural lighting throughout the living area, and a full view of their garden which adds to the open feel.

Here are some of the kind words the client had to say about our work:

'Haydn and Woore Watkins were absolutely amazing at listening to our ideas and putting them down on paper, we came to them with images and ideas and their first draft was pretty much perfect for what we had asked for and wanted. The drawings we received were all very professional and the beautiful renders were so great, before it was all done we just knew what we were going to get! Thanks so much for making our home the perfect living space for our family.'

This project started with traditional, listed brick barns which our client wished to convert into dwellings, retaining the original features where possible. The existing form of the original buildings has been used as a guide to divide them into three dwellings. This aided in creating a sensitive design which preserves the buildings heritage.

This building is a recently completed new family dwelling, replacing an old farmhouse and outbuildings. The client wished to retain a traditional farmhouse design, while incorporating a contemporary, open feel to the internal family living space and master bedroom suite. This has been achieved through the use of the glazed gable, which allows for maximum natural lighting and open views across the neighboring valley.

It's been a relatively quiet week for us, beavering away in the office, we've had a few meetings which have looked promising! There has been an enquiry from a new client, we have done a separate inspection on a new site, an old client has come to us with a new project, and we have had a meeting with another new client for a property we have previously worked on. It's always nice being given the opportunity to build on projects that have already been completed.

We will have more to share next week with some more development visuals!

Our clients' barn conversion near Melbourne is nearing completion! Retaining the original character of the building was important to the client so the existing pigsty openings have been transformed into unusually shaped windows. Let us know what you think of these before and after comparisons.
