I’m really saddened to be writing this, but for the second time in just 3 weeks our shop window has been smashed.
Honestly, we just don’t understand how this keeps happening. We work so hard to keep our shop looking welcoming, spend time creating displays and take real pride in making the space something nice for everyone in the community to enjoy.
Small businesses are already facing enough challenges at the moment, and times are hard enough without having to deal with repeated damage like this. Each time something like this happens it isn’t just upsetting, it comes with a real cost to repair and replace, money that would be far better spent improving the shop, supporting the business and continuing to provide the experience we want for our customers.
What makes this even harder is feeling like not enough is being done. We know we're not the only business affected and so many shop windows have been damaged over the last few weeks. Something really does need to change before someone is seriously hurt.
The glass panes at the front of our shop are very large, and incidents like this could very easily result in someone being seriously injured. It feels like it's only been luck so far that nobody has been hurt.
We're also disappointed that following the first incident we still haven't had a visit from the police, and it would have been appreciated to hear from the council or Ashby BID to offer some support or even check in with affected businesses.
We’ll get it fixed and keep going, because that’s what we do, but it’s hard not to feel gutted and frustrated when things like this continue to happen.
Thank you to everyone who continues to support us, it genuinely means a lot.
