Do you own land or property in the Tonbridge and Malling area that has potential for development?

Tonbridge and Malling Borough Council has announced a new Call for Sites, inviting landowners to propose sites with development potential for inclusion in the ongoing Local Plan process. This follows recent government updates to national planning policies in December 2024, which revised the Council’s annual housing target.

The Council is looking to identify land that may be suitable for various uses, such as housing, employment, leisure, retail, health, green infrastructure, and renewable energy.

If you have land that may be suitable for development in the Borough, please contact us for advice on what may or may not be possible - we can also help you to submit your applications to the council.

Opportunities for the Council to assess sites for development are rare as Local Plans are typically reviewed only once every five years so its worth taking up this opportunity now.

The Call for Sites is currently open and will close at 5pm on 26th March 2025.

Kent Planning Consultancy are proud to share that we were the planning agent for this impressive project in the Weald of Kent.

It was a challenging process, in negotiating with the Council the acceptance of the proposal and in maximising the opportunity on site. Kent Planning Consultancy were instructed to appeal against a decision by Maidstone Borough Council for 8-bedroom HMO in Maidstone town centre, providing accommodation for NHS staff. Contrary to the planning officer recommendation, elected members of the Planning Committee voted to refuse the application. Kent Planning Consultancy argued that the scheme was materially acceptable and that the council should award costs to the applicant.

The Planning Inspector conceded, granting planning permission and agreeing that the Council acted unreasonably in refusing the application. This resulted in an award of costs to our client! If you have had a recent planning refusal, we could help - please do not hesitate to reach out!
