Using a custom Python script, we’re generating randomised timber cladding patterns to test variation, repetition, and visual rhythm for façade designs with varying width boards.
The result? A system that produces unique layouts while remaining fully rationalised for fabrication, manufacture, and installation.
This workflow allows us to quickly test multiple design iterations, balancing creativity with control.

It’s been a challenging year, but also a rewarding one. Working with the other consultants involved in our projects has been key to delivering the high standards we aim for and we’re so grateful for everyone’s effort, support, and teamwork.

We’re excited to share the next batch of photos from one of our recently completed projects!

This 1930s bungalow has been transformed into a modern, light-filled home with a calming atrium, a seasonal acer, and a seamless connection to the garden. The design emphasizes clean, simple volumes, natural materials, and a tactile, contemporary feel.

Inspired by oriental architecture, the home features striking Yakisugi / Shou Sugi Ban charred timber cladding and an inner courtyard, creating a serene, well-balanced space.

Exciting day on site: photoshoot of a newly completed project!

We reimagined an old 1930s bungalow into a modern, light-filled home with a central atrium, seasonal acer, and seamless garden connection.

From concept to completion - a family home reimagined.

GYD Architects recently completed an extension of a family home in Kent, located in a conservation area. The project includes a modern open-plan layout, a bespoke kitchen with central island, and a utility space with shower room - designed for everyday family living.

The project required intensive structural engineering, including underpinning, along with a full refurbishment. To complement the home, we designed and built a multi-purpose modular garden office supplied by GYD Modular, while landscaping the garden to create a seamless indoor-outdoor connection.
