Weekly Update (from your friendly neighbourhood Candle Cottage chaos) 🕯️✨

Alright lovely people… big week incoming! 😍

We’re closing the shop next week so we can move every last bit of stock + supplies over to the new space (aka: The Great Candle Migration of 2026). If anyone’s feeling strong, helpful, and mildly interested in lifting boxes for fun… please report to the front desk for your complimentary “I helped move a small business and all I got was this sore back” badge 😂💪📦

Meanwhile… renovations in the new shop are FULL steam ahead and I’m finally feeling properly proud. Like… look at us go proud. 🛠️🥹

We are so close to filling the place with the best candles in the land (no offence to everyone else, but… yeah. We said what we said) 🕯️👑

I’m absolutely knackered… but wow — watching something I’ve had in my busy little brain for YEARS come to life has been genuinely the most satisfying thing ever. Big “mum look what I made!” energy 🥹✨

AND the cherry on top… 🍒 Our opening party guest list is filling up fast (already over 100 of you signed up!!) and I cannot wait to celebrate with you all! 🎉🥂💃

I’ve somehow made it this far as a small business owner and honestly… it’s not because I’m organised. It’s because I’m "persistent" (and too stubborn to quit). 😅

Like genuinely, the “secret” has been:

Biting off more than I can chew… then panic-chewing behind the counter while pretending I’ve got it all under control.

I’ve built this business one chaotic decision at a time:

- “Yeah I can totally do that order by Friday” (narrator: they could not)
- “Let’s launch something new” (with zero plan, just vibes)
- “It’ll be fine” (it was not fine, but it was fixable)

And somehow… it adds up.

One customer. One post. One late night. One “what am I doing??” moment at a time.

So if you’re running a small biz and you feel behind:

You’re not behind. You’re in it.

Today’s challenge (from one chaos goblin to another):

Do 10 minutes on the thing you’ve been avoiding.

Invoices, stock, content, website, whatever.

Just take a bite. Chew later.

I genuinely thought this would be the easy part… (spoiler: it wasn’t) 👀

In the first 7 days we somehow managed to:

- fill
- sand
- paint
- build up ALL the furniture

Basically: a full DIY glow-up powered by caffeine, chaos, and stubbornness.

And now… it’s over to the professionals (thank goodness). The kitchen is going in… just slightly delayed due to illness. Can’t be helped, obviously — but WOW am I feeling the stress levels rise like a badly mixed candle.

Because here’s the fun bit: I need running water to start making stock for the shelves… and the shelves are now secured (which was a mission on an uneven floor that genuinely tries to humble you daily).

Massive shoutout to my absolute legends of a brother-in-law and nephew — they got those shelves upright, level-ish, and ready for product like it was an episode of DIY SOS: Baildon Edition.

And with opening day getting closer and closer… plus a guest list of 70+ people so far… it’s all becoming…

A. LOT.

Am I tired? Yes.

Am I stressed? Also yes.

Am I going to pull this off anyway? YES I AM.

Wish me luck (and maybe send snacks).
