🐝 Busy little workers spotted on site today.

While carrying out tree work we came across this brilliant bumblebee nest built into an old stone wall. Jobs like this are a good reminder that arboriculture isn’t just about trees — it’s also about respecting the wildlife that depends on these spaces.

Work paused around the area while we gave the bees the space they needed to carry on undisturbed.

Nature was here first. 🌿

Stopped work on a conifer removal this week after discovering active nesting birds within the hedge line.

As arborists we have a responsibility not only to work safely, but also to protect wildlife and operate within current legislation and best practice.

The customer was informed immediately and works will resume once the nesting activity has finished safely.

A great technical dismantle completed today by Larkintreecare 🌳

This large Silver Birch had to be climbed and dismantled carefully in sections due to the amount of obstacles and risk below the canopy.

The drop zone included fences, decking, trellis panels, neighbouring gardens, a newly installed fence, and a beautiful young apple tree that all had to be protected throughout the operation. To add to the challenge, the customer had recently installed a brand new garden room directly within the work zone after the original site visit.

Careful rigging, controlled cutting, and good planning ensured the tree was dismantled safely with no damage and a clean finish all round.

Another good example of why experience, precision, and proper risk management matter in tree work.

Another great day for Larkintreecare 🌳

Today we removed 2 trees — 1 Birch and 1 Hornbeam — to help open up the customer’s garden and completely change the view from the property.

Both trees were safely felled, processed, and fully removed from site. A tidy finish and another happy customer.

Another successful high-risk dismantle completed by Larkintreecare this week.

We safely removed 3 large trees in very close proximity to the customer’s house using a combination of technical felling, winching and controlled sectional work. Every stage of the job was carefully planned with safety, property protection and site control as the priority.

🌿 Work Paused for Nature Today 🕊️

On site this week carrying out tree work, we made an unexpected discovery — a pigeon’s nest carefully tucked away in the canopy.

As we approached, the mother stayed put, and when we looked closer, there were two small eggs in the nest.

At that point, the job stopped.

No tree is more important than wildlife. Breeding season means we carry out checks before and during work, and when nature tells us to pause — we pause.

The tree will wait. Those two little lives can’t.

Two Large Tree Removals – Professionally Dismantled 🌳💪

Ballyclare this week. Another technical removal completed by the Larkintreecare team this week.

We safely dismantled two large mature trees, both in confined positions with surrounding property and garden features to protect. Due to their size and structure, sectional dismantling was required — carefully rigged down in controlled sections to eliminate risk and prevent damage.

✅ Full site risk assessment carried out
✅ Precision rigging and controlled lowering techniques used
✅ All arisings processed and removed
✅ Site left clean and secure

These weren’t straightforward fell-and-drop jobs — they required planning, teamwork, and proper technical ex*****on. Proud of how the crew handled it from start to finish.

Pollarding carried out on a large mature lime tree that hadn’t been touched for many years.

This was well overdue and completed back to previous pollard points to bring the tree back under control, reduce weight, and set it up properly for future management. A big climb and a technical job, but exactly the right solution for the tree and its surroundings.

Customer very happy with the result.
