🔥 Grade A, Grade D?

This is very confusing when the specification is specified by the local council or contractor.

➡️ A-GRADE: A fire alarm system will consist of a Fire Alarm Panel with different detection devices. It incorporates backup batteries, in the event of a power failure, the system is still operational for a limited time. These systems were used more commonly in commercial buildings, but are now installed in domestic properties where; there may be flats within a converted house or a 3 storey house which is now converted into a HMO.

➡️ Servicing – A-Grade: A fire alarm system should be serviced AT LEAST TEICE A YEAR to ensure it is still operating correctly from when it was installed.

The nights are getting darker much earlier.

Rewire of a House in Essex. Due to the construction of the property the internal walls were insulated and plaster-boarded by the builders. This gave us the opportunity to run all our cabling so nothing is visible on surface. The first image shows a socket and switched fused spur for the boiler and the second image shows some more electrical sockets in the kitchen. The last image is the most important as without it, nothing electrical will work 😎😎 the electrical fusebox. Do you have a project coming coming up or when was your electrical wiring last tested? Over the past month the burglary rate has increased exponentially. This includes attempted burglaries, actual burglaries and car thefts.

It makes you wonder why this area all of a sudden and what do these two areas and surrounding areas have in common?

There are a lot of messaging groups active which is great to raise awareness between neighbours so everyone is aware of the current situation and this information will be very helpful for the local Police too in piecing information together. Based on the enquiries we have received and the work completed we would suggest the following in protecting your home and family.

1. Do you have a functioning security light? Does it work as designed, at night only and not when a car drives past your property in the day time? It is a good deterrent as it lights the area where installed and will make it a lot harder for someone to hide and break in.

2. Do you have a double glazed front door? Do you double lock the door when you are inside? Shutting the door and lifting the handle is a misconception, although engaging the bolts and levers in the locking mechanism it will be pointless as when you push the handle down from the outside the bolts and levers disengage. So make sure you double lock it BUT make sure the key is somewhere accessible to all occupants so in the event of an emergency you can escape.

3. Do you have CCTV? It's becoming common practice, but is it any good? Hold that thought for now until our next post!
