Update 24/07: Two people have been charged in connection.

| We are investigating a number of burglaries and attempted burglaries that have taken place in recently, where the perpetrators have entered unlocked homes via open windows, stolen from a shed, and attempted to open front doors and car doors.

Residents are asked to remain vigilant and ensure homes are kept secure:
🚪 Keep doors locked, even if you're home
🚗 Keep vehicles locked and valuable items out of sight
📹 If you have CCTV, ensure that it is turned on and recording
💡 If you have an external light, ensure that it is working

| There has been an increase in vehicles being stolen in areas of and the .
Barry, Penarth, Canton, Ely, Fairwater, Llanishen and Llanederyn have all seen a spike in thefts compared to December.
We know that being a victim of car crime is upsetting, costly and an inconvenience. It’s particularly distressing when you are a repeat victim.

⚠️ The most stolen vehicles last month were (27) (5) and (4).
Fiesta, Transit and Ecosport were the most targeted Ford models.
There has also been a rise in thefts from vehicles.

👮 Please be reassured that officers are is doing everything possible to identify those responsible and we are on regular patrol.
Here are some tips to help prevent vehicle crime.
1 – Check your vehicle daily.
2 – Check vehicle is secure before leaving.
3 – Remove items of value.
4 – Where possible, park in a well-lit area and covered by CCTV as this can deter thieves and also help detect crime.
5 - Make a note of the location using the What 3 Words app.

‼️ Leaving vehicles unlocked gives opportunistic criminals an easy steal.
‼️ Leaving any valuable items gives criminals a way to make easy money from your hard-earned cash.
