The forecast says dull and grey, but our plant team didn't get the memo!

We've got bright blooms, cheerful gifts, fairy houses ready for new tenants, and enough colour to convince you it's June after all.

🐝 NEW STAFF AT DEEPDALE 🐝

The café and nursery teams have been busy this spring, so we were delighted when Bill our glorious leader announced he was recruiting some extra workers.

Naturally, we asked how many.

"About 40,000," he replied.

We were slightly concerned!

A few days later, a queen and 40,000 workers arrived, and suddenly it all made sense. 🐝👑

Deepdale now has its very own bee colony, settling into life among the flowers and getting straight to work.

Bill has pointed out the new recruits are:

✅ Hard working
✅ Highly organised
✅ Excellent team players
✅ Completely devoted to their queen
✅ Never stop talking about flowers

🍯 Deepdale honey is officially on the way...

We're still not entirely convinced about the new staff uniform, though... 😆

There is an old saying:

“Plant colour. Grow joy.”

And after months of growing, watering, feeding, deadheading, moving trays around, and keeping an eye on the weather… we’re pleased to announce the joy part has arrived. 🌸

Many of the plants you’ll find at Deepdale have been grown right here by Matt and our nursery team.

The plant area is looking especially beautiful at the moment.

Come and have a wander this weekend 🌿

The skies are blue, the flowers are basking in the sun, and waiting to be taken to their forever home.

🌸 Roses in bud and bursting into bloom
💜 Lupins standing proud and tall
🌿 Hydrangeas full of blues and pinks
🪴 Perfect planters for patio displays
☕ Coffee, cake and locally made ice cream

We sent one of our team down to Chelsea Flower Show, and asked them to share their number 1 highlight.

They fell in love with the Campaign to Protect Rural England Garden: ‘On the Edge’ which was created to raise awareness of the fragility of rural landscapes, focusing on vulnerable spaces including ordinary fringe landscapes constantly under threat.

The funny thing about garden centres is…

you often come in for compost…
