We have been reminded this week of the importance of having conversations about how to avoid scams. Whether its your family, friends, neighbour or anyone else, a reminder can mean the difference between someone losing their money or not.

Scams are constantly evolving and criminals are finding increasingly creative ways to steal money now that people are more aware. People who aren't used to technology are being caught out on social media. For example, It's important that everyone knows that celebrities don't contact you to chat, that seemingly romantic messages from strangers aren't who they say they are etc.

Lets look out for each other to make sure that scammers remain failures.

It's normal to feel worried about scams. The good news is there are things you can do to protect yourself and your money.

From phone calls and emails, to in-person scams, our tips can help you stay safe or help you get support if you've been a victim of a scam: https://bit.ly/4n4GcdK

This Dementia Action Week, we’re proud to support the launch of the Hampshire & Isle of Wight Dementia Alliance!

The Alliance brings together organisations, carers, community groups and people with lived experience to help make dementia support easier to find and more connected across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.

We know how important good support, understanding and community can be for people living with dementia and the people around them. By working together, we can help ensure nobody feels like they’re facing things alone.

This is all about better support for dementia, through working together. You can read more about the launch of the Alliance and what we hope to achieve together, by visiting our website: https://www.ageconcernhampshire.org.uk/hampshire-isle-of-wight-dementia-alliance-launches-during-dementia-awareness-week/

This week is Mental Health Awareness Week. When we think about the impact of mental health issues, it's important to remember older people.
Older people have a higher prevalence of social isolation, loneliness, bereavement, loss of independence, and being unable to do things they have always enjoyed.
Becoming a volunteer befriender or driver can make a real difference to the lives of older people in our community. Help people who are isolated and lonely feel more connected.
Please contact us if you would like to find out more about volunteering with us.
