No Dig beds are easy to plant into at any time of the season, just a thin covering of home made compost once a year to feed the soil. I still like to use a string line to plant out garlic ( Doocot , Hardneck) from which I have then covered with a yearly compost of a 35mm covering. The wide bed is mulched after courgette plants have been composted and awaiting more varieties of garlic from .

Outdoor tomatoes still going strong, varieties are both blight resistant, rondobella ( medium salad) and primabella ( vine cherry) from Culinaris Saatgut. I have saved seeds from each variety for next years planting as these seem to have stood the test and given 6 trusses of fruit each. Indoor tomatoes did get late blight but not as bad as previous year. I believe that it's down to trying to grow too many in the keder at 500mm spacing which doesn't allow enough air and light to stove off late blight. You live and learn!πŸ™‚πŸ…

Autumn harvests are still plentiful on the and plenty still to do for overwintering salads and vegetables. Here in the last photo out doors is a great intersowing trick with garlic between mature endive that has recently shared on his IG videos. The endive will still give leaves until weather changes cold and wet ( usually November/December) whilst the intersown garlic then sends out greenery for next years garlic harvests. Credit to Charles for his shared wisdom.

28 kg of squashes from 6 plants and 76 kg of Sharks fin melon harvested from one rogue plant which is still trying to give more. Amazing yeild from a single plant which must have been in last years compost which I used to mulch the bed this spring.

Full day of autumn harvesting in with mixed salad leaves which are abundant with oriental mustards, rocket, and chicory, lettuce , spinach, sorrel, endive, chard , chervil and coriander ( its the best season for salads in my opinion). Not only do I grow for food for cafe and sale but also for flower, veg and herb plants on sale for overwintering, propagated in greenhouse alongside kitchen garden vegetable and salads. It's great to have a couple of regular volunteers who have helped me this summer.😁

It's not what you think it is, watermelon, it's a squash called Sharks fin melon which I found as a rogue plant amongst the butternut squashes we are growing in the at The seeds from last years harvested melon had been in the yearly application of 2" of comoist to the beds and decided to join the butternut for an autumn festival of squashesπŸ˜†. I have 6 of these 5kg beautiful sculpted colourful squashes still basking in this glorious sunshine.
