🐛 Oak Processionary Moth (OPM) Alert 🌳
These caterpillars may look interesting, but they can pose a serious health risk to people and pets.
The image shows clusters of Oak Processionary Moth caterpillars moving along an oak branch. They are easy to spot with their grey bodies, long white hairs, and habit of travelling in nose-to-tail lines (called a “procession”).
⚠️ Please do not touch or approach
The tiny hairs can cause:

Itchy rashes
Eye irritation
Sore throats or breathing issues

🐶 This also applies to dogs and other animals.
✅ What to do if you see them:

Keep your distance
Do not attempt to remove them yourself
Report sightings through the official Forestry Commission Tree Alert service
