A true testament to the phrase "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" (until you absolutely have to).
When a 30-year-old copper cylinder gives up, it rarely does so quietly. The movement from replacing a motorised valve is often just enough to cause a weak spot and it fails.

Its not often you call the merchants and they have a new one sitting on the shelf so we did get some luck this day.
We stayed well into the night to get this customers heating and hot water back on because thats who we are.

Call out to no hot water, 2 port valve was at fault.
Customer says it was only changed 6 months ago.
Replaced the cheap replica valve with a Honeywell valve. 5 year warrenty on part.
A prime example of you pay cheap, you pay twice.
Don't settle for any less people!

Met a nice man in Screwfix today who had already spent hours trying to fit a waste disposal unit. He had taken all the pipes away and wasn't sure what fittings to buy to complete.
I think I was his night in shining armour as I offered him to pay me a 1 hour fee to complete the work.
He nearly bit my hand off
I also think he is going to tell his wife he's done it himself 😉
I understand most of us begrudge getting a professional in do certain jobs but sometimes it just not worth the stress and hassle.
I learned from my own experience when I tried to hang wallpaper, let's just say it didn't end well.

Isolate cold mains, compressor to 5bar with air and open all taps in the house one at a time.
Blockage was cleared.
