As February arrives, can we tentatively start looking forward to Spring? It’s the perfect season for new beginnings, so perhaps time to tackle those interior projects you’ve been putting off.
Did you know I offer a two hour consultation package? Designed to help you make those tricky decisions which allow you to move on with a project, it avoids the overwhelm, decision fatigue and over-analysing you will inevitably face.
We can meet in your home, on site, over video call or in your local coffee shop - mine’s a flat white 😉
Following the meeting I send you a summary of what we covered, plus links to products and suppliers where relevant. And if you feel you need further help? You simply bolt on additional hourly consultancy time with me.
It’s the perfect service to tackle whatever’s causing you angst - tile choices, room layouts, kitchen finishes, flooring… I’ve even been called in to settle partner disputes 🫣 With one off consultations, I aim to fit your appointment in within 2 weeks, so simply get in touch via the link in my profile or drop me an email.

Hello and Happy New Year! Have we all survived the first week back? I actually love January… it feels like a good time to reset and refresh. The Christmas decs are packed away and our homes are ready for a breath of fresh air.
Whilst I’m looking forward to new and exciting projects ahead in 2026, I love to reflect on the year just passed. These pics were kindly sent to me by lovely clients I worked with early last year on a remote basis. They had recently moved into a new build home that was crying out for some love! I helped them update the main kitchen and living space to feel more cosy and considered, with new lighting, window dressings, paint and a furnishings refresh. I think you’ll agree it’s looking a lot more like a home now.
If you’re wanting to refresh a room or indeed a few rooms in your own home this year, now is the time to get in touch. I offer in person and remote consultations, so can work with clients right across the UK and Ireland… or further afield! Just drop me an email to [email protected] or follow the link in my profile to get in touch!

Finally got around to taking a few snaps of the new bathroom! Kept saying I will do it someday, but let’s face it, it won’t stay this tidy for long…

Just need some framed art on the back wall, towel radiator plumbed in and blinds to soften the ugly windows… all in time!

It’s turned out exactly as I envisaged it - that’s where careful planning wins 🙌🏼

Any questions about anything you see, please feel free to ask below!

Lovely words from a lovely client, proving that despite living at separate ends of the UK, we can work together to create beautiful, joyful spaces!

I genuinely feel very lucky to work with the people who chose me as their designer or decorative consultant - I feel like you’re all part of the Dekkobird family ✨

Currently taking bookings for new projects for February/March and also have some slots left for video consultations this month (see stories!) and for one off consultations in the New Year. Please get in touch via DM or link in profile! Thank you 🙏🏻

Hej hej!
I’m just back from a mini trip to Copenhagen and totally fell in love with the place. Loved the Danish way of life and of course the design element which is encapsulated through the architecture, interiors and everyday items.
Here’s some recommendations if you’re planning a visit - any questions just ask!

🇩🇰 We stayed in Hermann K hotel - centrally located and super comfy
🇩🇰 Visit Nyhavn for the pretty coloured port then lunch at Judie across the water where it’s less touristy. The smørrebrød is delicious!
🇩🇰 Take a stroll along the Stroget for shopping. Make sure to stop in the amazing Hay House for interiors inspo!
🇩🇰 Rundetaarn is worth a visit and is just off the Stroget. Climb to the top for a 360 view of the city
🇩🇰 We loved the botanical garden for a wander around and you can also visit nearby Rosenborg castle and gardens
🇩🇰 If you’re a confident cyclist make sure to hire city bikes for exploring. You will notice quickly it’s the no 1 way of getting about the city
🇩🇰 Whilst on our bikes we took in the canal area of Christianshavn (Ferm Living HQ is a must visit!), then stopped at Amalienborg the royal palace (watch the changing of the guard here too), finally up to the Little Mermaid of course
🇩🇰 Fit in a visit to one of the many art galleries or museums. We chose the Ordrupgaard as I was keen to see the Zaha Hadid designed extension. You can also visit the furniture designer Finn Juhl’s house but it was closed when we were there
🇩🇰 Stopping for coffee and a cardamom bun is a must do! Hart bakery in Christianshavn is recommended. The Vesterbro area is a super destination for foodies - we had a wonderful meal in Maple. You can also dine in one of the many cool eateries in the famous meatpacking district.

Please save or share with a friend you’d love to bring to wonderful wonderful Copenhagen! We will be back!

Sharing some of my favourite soft, warm, white paints that I return to time and again for client projects and in my own home. One to save! 🙏🏻

+ Little Greene Slaked Lime 149 - the perfect all rounder, suits all aspects. Slaked Lime 105 also a great choice, especially for softening ceilings against a stronger wall colour
+ Farrow & Ball Strong White - for contemporary spaces, a modern architectural white
+ Little Greene Portland Stone Pale - ideal for pairing with green, organic tones
+ F&B Schoolhouse White - a soft buttery white, great in traditional settings
+ F&B Shaded White - a good choice for woodwork or internal doors when you’re after something a little deeper than white
+ F&B All White - a beautifully soft white for ceilings, woodwork and mouldings
+ Little Greene Rolling Fog Pale - adds warmth to north facing spaces thanks to its pinkish brown undertones

Which is your favourite white?

6 places to find interior inspiration that aren’t Pinterest…
Whilst scrolling Pinterest and Insta can offer oodles of inspiration, it can equally cause overwhelm and confusion as you’re bombarded with many different design styles and ideas. Here are a few alternative sources from which I personally enjoy seeking new inspiration that aren’t via a screen:
🗞️ Magazines - good old paper copy! Flick through not only interior and design mags, but gardening & lifestyle ones too! Tear out pages and create scrapbooks or mood board folders to gather up inspo
🎧 Podcasts - there are some really good interior decor & design podcasts out there. Some of my faves include:
Homing In by House Guest by

.podcast
🏨 Hotel, cafe & restaurant interiors - take pics of any design details that inspire you, these places are fabulous for colour scheme inspo, period details & decorating, plus lighting/walls/floors/tiles!
📚 Books - head to your local library, look for preloved interior design books on eBay and in charity shops, or put one on your birthday wishlist! Even the older decorating ideas still have influence in today’s home. Books also make wonderful styling tools stacked on sideboards and coffee tables 😊
🖼️ Art galleries & museums - fabulous when you need inspiration on anything from colour, historic design info, textiles, materials… and there’s often use of stunning wall colours and floor tiles!
🏬 Store interiors - many independent shops and boutiques have beautifully styled windows and vignettes you can gain inspiration from

I hope this helps, please save this post for future reference or share to a friend needing design inspo! 💡

The corner sofa - is it right for your space?
I’m often asked this question, either because a client thinks it’s the only option available to them or they’re very set on the idea of getting one. Like anything, there are a few points to consider before you part with your hard earned clobber…
✔️ Understand the difference between the corner family options: a corner sofa is usually an L shape and has a back section right the way around, a corner chaise is like a sofa with a footstool attached to one end and a modular sofa has moveable sections (also known as a sectional sofa) and can form an L or U shape

✔️A corner sofa works well to divide zones in an open plan living/dining space. In a long or narrow open plan room, a chaise corner can work really well where 2 sofas perpendicular to one another would take up too much space

✔️In a smaller room, a corner sofa efficiently utilises a corner, freeing up central floor space

✔️Corner and modular sofas can add a modern, contemporary feel to a space

✔️A corner sofa is associated with comfort as they’re often deep cushioned and easy to stretch out on

❌ Corner sofas often have limitations in terms of where you can place them. Consider a modular design if you want flexibility

❌ Corner sofas are often better suited to more contemporary interiors. Traditional style corner sofas are rarely attractive!

❌ The corner section will not be a comfortable place to sit (unless you’re sitting on it with your feet up), so you may find that 2 individual sofas will seat more people. For this reason they can be better suited to family use rather than entertaining guests

❌ A pair of sofas may allow a better conversation ‘circle’ if it’s the only seating you have space for in the room

Remember to save this for future reference! Let me know in the comments if you’ve found it helpful ☺️
